The band's debut album - titled "High Time" and released in 2015 - contained a very diverse material, combining riff- and solo-driven rock of the 70s with the sound of the 90s. After all, the name 1965 is a tribute to an alternative rock icon The Afghan Whigs.
After self-releasing their debut album, 1965 had to face the challenges that most young bands struggle with: frequent changes in the line-up and other problems that often result in the band breaking up. But the Polish group survived and - although it took them more than half a decade - returns with another release.
The group’s second album - in line with their philosophy - is definitely different from its predecessor. New release, titled "Panther", is a hard rock soundtrack of a never made science fiction movie from the 80s. It’s an explosive mix of glam metal and space rock, where inspirations like Mötley Crüe meet Monster Magnet, Velvet Revolver and Alice in Chains.
Regardless of the reaction their music receives, 1965 will always do their thing: create the music they would like to hear themselves, by their own rules and at their own pace. And have a lot of fun doing it.
Beside Me
1965 Lyrics

What we wasted, what we had
When we're hollow, when we're empty
Well, I ask you, you don't answer
What is true?
What is just a dream of you?
I can't distinguish
You live beside me now
And I don't know why
Cry, my little baby
When you're close to me
Your tears
I dry
What is true?
What is just a dream of you?
I can't distinguish
I can't explain it
You live beside me now
And I don't know why
You live beside me now
And I don't know why
The lyrics of "Beside Me" by 1965 touch upon themes of longing, confusion, and unresolved emotions. The opening lines express a sense of lingering bitterness and regret over a lost relationship. The singer reflects on what was wasted and what they once had, highlighting a feeling of emptiness and hollowness. They yearn for answers from their former partner, but receive no response. This lack of communication adds to the singer's confusion and inability to move forward.
The chorus poses a series of questions that reflect the singer's internal struggle. They ponder what is true and what is merely a figment of their imagination—a dream of their former partner. This suggests that they struggle to distinguish between reality and their own desires. This confusion further frustrates the singer and inhibits their ability to fully grasp and comprehend the situation they find themselves in.
The repeated line "You live beside me now, and I don't know why" indicates a lingering presence of the former partner in the singer's life. Despite the dissolution of their relationship, the person in question continues to hold a significant presence and influence. The singer finds themselves perplexed by this proximity, unable to comprehend why this person is still so intertwined in their day-to-day existence.
The final lines introduce a more vulnerable and tender aspect to the song. The singer addresses their former partner as a "little baby" and expresses a willingness to comfort and soothe them. This suggests that despite the confusion and unanswered questions, there remains a level of empathy and care for their ex-lover. The final repetition of the chorus reinforces the ongoing struggle to understand the complexities of the past and the feelings associated with it. Overall, "Beside Me" presents a poignant portrayal of unresolved emotions and the difficulty of moving on from a past relationship.
