Now at last she's dead and gone
Now at last there's joy throughout the land
Good news!
Good news!
Who can say if I've been
But
Because I knew you
No one mourns the wicked
Because I knew you
I have been changed
No one mourns the wicked
Wicked!
Wicked!
The lyrics of the song "Finale" from the Broadway musical Wicked, sung by Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth, describes the death of the Wicked Witch of the West and how her demise brought joy throughout the land. The first lines of the song, "No one mourns the wicked, now at last she's dead and gone, now at last there's joy throughout the land," reflect the relief felt by the citizens of Oz at the death of the Witch. The chorus repeats this sentiment with "no one mourns the wicked" before acknowledging the possibility that something good may have come from the experience. The lyrics reflect the idea that someone's death can bring joy and relief to others, even if it may not be the noblest of emotions to feel.
The final verse, sung by Menzel, discusses how her character, Elphaba, has been changed by her experiences with the Witch. She acknowledges that the Witch may have left a lasting impact on her character, but ultimately believes that she has been changed for the better. The repetition of the line "because I knew you" emphasizes the importance of the relationship between the two characters and how it has altered Elphaba's perspective. Overall, the song highlights the theme of perspective and how one's experiences can shape their character.

Every Glinda actress and Elphaba actress are amazing in their own ways, but no Glinda and Elphaba will ever have the amount of chemistry that Kristin and Idina did! 💗💚

They built the characters while they were being written and they had in put in who they were so their is a personal attachment that goes beyond appropriating the characters they play
