Cobwebs in the attic
2 Dope Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
(Violent J)
Let me out this dirty attic, Clean the cobwebs out my attic.(repeat)
(shaggy 2 Dope)
Cold sweats shake em' off.
I'm dry heaving chokin' on blood clots. Hallucinations are comming to
real life. Reflections of my face in the back of a
butcher knife. Time after time in the middle
I said my prayers and I tuck myself in
tight. My bed still shakes somethin' ain't right oh
shit its clogged I tend to forget
It's way past midnight and he ain't ape yet.
No way dick I am almost outta pills and you already
went through my last three refills.
Don't tell me what to do bitch I am on it. I still got
that rubber mask in the closet.
Good he's straight, that's just fine..But what the fuck Im
sposed to do in the mean time.
CHORUS--Let me out this dirty attic, clean the cobwebs out my attic(repeat)
(Shaggy)
Coffee shop opens I am already in the corner,
sippin' my latte, with crushed up soda(?) powder.
I've been up for days I barely see through the crusted
infest in my eyes my skins pale and
flush. The only moments in my life I recall being happy
rep' the hotties tap a little nappy
Insanity is setup all try to catch me.
my walls came crumblin' realities slappy.
Everywhere I look there is no sign of my soul,
so my sights is set to fill that empty hole.
Thats where he comes in yeah him again.
Claud mastered the art of body disposaling. he don't
want shit but just a little snack his belly gets full
and me, I get my life back.
So hopefully today like all the years past I picked
the right guy and then ??.
CHORUS
(shaggy)
You, you, you, its always about you.
not this time...NOT THIS TIME!! This time its about ME
Medications wearin' off I hear sirens yellin' in loud
speakers and screechin' tires
Quite playin' Claud(?) I ain't fuckin' around a billy
club bounced off my head and laid me out
a week must have passed hmmm I suppose.
I am in a dang guys padded room with no clothes
shackled to the floor you call this the bone this might
be hell to you but I am right at home!
CHORUS(same as above with shaggy in background yelling I'M RIGHT AT HOME!!)
The lyrics of "Cobwebs in the Attic" by 2 Dope tell a dark and twisted tale of a person's descent into madness and their reliance on drugs to cope with their inner demons.
In the first verse, Violent J expresses his frustration with someone who is greedy and self-centered. He wants to break free from the dirty attic and cleanse himself of the metaphorical cobwebs that represent the burdens and troubles he carries.
Shaggy 2 Dope takes over in the second verse and describes the intense mental and physical turmoil he experiences. He mentions cold sweats, dry heaving, and hallucinations, alluding to the effects of drug abuse. He also mentions seeing his own reflection in a butcher knife, suggesting a connection between his inner demons and the potential for self-harm.
He confesses to taking pills, possibly prescription medications, to cope with the chaos in his mind. He mentions someone (possibly a doctor or therapist) telling him what to do, but he resents their authority. He reveals he has a rubber mask in the closet, implying a desire to hide his true self from the world.
In the chorus, both Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope express the desire to be released from their mental prisons and have the cobwebs, or emotional baggage, cleared out. They long for some sense of normalcy and peace.
The third verse focuses on Shaggy 2 Dope's desperation and the lengths he is willing to go to find relief from his torment. He mentions being in a coffee shop, likely using substances to stay awake, and his deteriorating physical appearance. He references someone named Claud, who seems to be a figure associated with brutal acts of violence and possibly even murder. Shaggy seems to believe that by feeding Claud, he can regain control over his life and fill the emptiness inside him.
In the final verse, Shaggy 2 Dope becomes defiant and asserts himself. He addresses someone, possibly Claud or an authority figure, and declares that this time it's about him, not them. He mentions the medications wearing off, hearing sirens, and being assaulted by a billy club, which suggests a confrontation with law enforcement or security. He ends up in a padded room, shackled to the floor, but instead of feeling imprisoned, he states that he is right at home, suggesting that he has fully embraced his deranged state of mind.
Overall, "Cobwebs in the Attic" delves into the darkness of addiction, mental illness, and the lengths one may go to find solace in a world that feels overwhelming and suffocating. It paints a vivid picture of the struggles and distorted thoughts that plague the singer, ultimately leaving them trapped in their own personal hell.
