Ill Be Here Awhile

I'll be here a while, ain't going nowhere.
I'll be here a while, ain't going nowhere.
I'll be here a while, ain't going nowhere.
I'll be here a while.

Far is solace in the maddening pace,
Sad state written on my face.
Not a tight rope walk but dance, (whoa whoa)
Uncertain game of chance, (whoa whoa)
But I'll see it through in time.

I'll be here a while, ain't going nowhere.
I'll be here a while, ain't going nowhere.
I'll be here a while, ain't going nowhere.
I'll be here a while.

And if a person place or thing can deliver I would quiver with delight.
Tempted by the hand that could blind my vision and sight.
But at twenty years of age, (whoa whoa)
In frolic and in rage, (whoa whoa)
I will see it through in time.

I'll be here a while, ain't going nowhere.
I'll be here a while, ain't going nowhere.
I'll be here a while, ain't going nowhere.
I'll be here a while

But the dawn has come into the endless night.
And everything, is going to be alright.
But at thirty years of age, (whoa whoa)
Through frolic and in rage, (whoa whoa)
All regressed and healed in time.

I'll be here a while, ain't going nowhere
Said I, said I, said I, I will survive.

This song means so much to me. Got me through some of my darkest times. First heard this song while I was still in high school, in 2001, 10th grade.

I almost took own my life at the age of 22, 12yrs ago. But im still here, because I chose to live; I couldn't let those demons win. Now I sit here, aged 34yrs old, appreciating how much of a gift life truly is, no matter how hard it may get. At 22, I reached the absolute lowest point of my life, and felt it could only go up from there.

🎶"At twenty years of age..."🎶,

🎶"but at 30yrs of age..." 🎶

I can now say I've lived beyond both age markers in the song, and I'm still here to tell it. One must always find the reason, the purpose, the point, the beauty, in living life. I still come back to this song from time to time, and get so emotional.

Now I cruise down Pacific Coast Highway as the sun sets, in my Jeep Wrangler with top off, wind blowing in my hair and face. Just me, the road, the sky, and the music. 311's music as the soundtrack. It's a weightless feeling. 🤟🏽

For even the simplest things in life, I'm so grateful. Life is beautiful, and I'll Be Here A While.

Thank you, 311. 🙇🏽‍♀️🙏🏽

Been searching for exactly 20 years for it. The first time I heard it was in 2001 beginning my first year in college, I was in my dorm room in Toronto half asleep and half drunk listening to the radio at 4 am. Now at 37, while waiting for a flight to take me to Copenhagen for a convention as part of my job, thought of the song, just hummed it and Google did the rest. Things get better with time, people, you just have to endure the bad weather whatever that is.

@cindywuollet1

Loved Copenhagen got married there early 80s. Yep I’m that old. My son was born shortly thereafter. And now he’s dead 35 he died in my arms suddenly heart attack not drug induced. He was not a drug user. But now I’m lost. He was my friend. And today is my 47yo brother birthday born 311 and 311 is his fav band
