At age 15, Hayes was arrested and sentenced to 4 years in prison for carjacking, though a fight with an inmate while incarcerated extended his prison time to a total of 6 years. When he was let out, he pursued music full-time and self-released several projects like the 11241 Wayburn mixtape. Hayes has been involved in several legal issues throughout his career. In 2019, he was seen firing a gun in an Atlanta gun range, which he was prohibited from doing due to a prior felony conviction, and was sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to pay a $90,000 fine. On June 5, 2020, Hayes fled from a traffic stop in a rented SUV, for which he was charged with a third-degree felony and released on a $20,000 bond. In 2021, Hayes was arrested for failing to report to serve his prison sentence for his 2019 gun range incident.
