Jackson was born and raised in South Jamaica, a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens. His mother Sabrina, a drug dealer, died in a fire when he was 8. Since his father had already abandoned the family, young Curtis was sent to live with his grandparents. Growing up during the crack epidemic of the 80s and 90s, Jackson dealt drugs when he wasn't "killing time" at school or boxing at a local gym. His grandparents assumed he was at after-school programs when he was out selling crack. In tenth grade, Jackson was caught with guns and drug money passing through the metal detectors at Andrew Jackson High School in Queens. In 1994, Jackson was arrested again for selling vials of cocaine to an undercover officer, and three weeks later he was arrested yet-again after police found heroin, crack cocaine, and a starter pistol in his home. Jackson was sentenced to 3 to 9 years in prison, but opted to join a 6 month boot camp program and get his GED. Around this time, Jackson began going by "50 Cent," inspired by deceased Brooklyn stick-up man Kelvin "50 Cent" Martin.
After leaving drug dealing to pursue a rap career, he released his debut album Guess Who's Back Again in 2002. He was discovered by Eminem and Dr. Dre and then signed to Interscope Records. He has since released Get Rich or Die Tryin' (2003), The Massacre (2006), Curtis (2007) and Before I Self Destruct (2009).
50 Cent has engaged in feuds with other rappers including Jay-Z, Ja Rule, The Game, Cam'ron, Fat Joe, and Rick Ross. He has also pursued an acting career, appearing in the semi-autobiographical film Get Rich or Die Tryin' in 2005, the Iraq War film Home of the Brave in 2006, and Righteous Kill in 2008. 50 Cent is one of the richest hip-hop performers, having a net worth estimated at US $440 million in 2008.
Before 50 Cent ever inked a major deal, he built up a substantial fan base in New York through underground mixtapes. 50 Cent met up with Jam Master Jay of Run-DMC and was signed to his label to write all of Jay’s music. After he’d left JMJ, he signed to Columbia Records in 1996. On this label, he released Power of the Dollar, and the singles How to Rob and Ghetto Qua Ran. Columbia Records released him from the label after being shot on May 24th, 2000.
Around this time, Eminem had heard one of 50 Cent’s demo tapes and expressed a huge interest in him on MTV, as did Dr. Dre. Shortly after this, 50 Cent officially signed to Interscope Records. He was the first rapper to sign to the joint label owned by Dr. Dre and Eminem. The first song he released on this record was entitled Wanksta and was featured on the 8 Mile soundtrack.
In its first week of release, his debut ”Get Rich Or Die Tryin’” sold 872,000 units - easily reaching Gold status. Within the second week it went Platinum (1 mil) and on April 12th, 2004 the RIAA certified it six times Platinum.
In 2005 he followed the success of his album Get Rich or Die Tryin’ with a new release - The Massacre (originally called St. Valentines Day Massacre until the release date was pushed back). The first single released off this, Disco Inferno, was a huge hit - he followed this hit up by the release of Candy Shop and then again with Just a Lil Bit.
In 2003 Interscope Records allowed 50 Cent to have his own label - G-Unit Records. He first signed Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo and Young Buck as the established members of G-Unit Records. In 2004, Dr. Dre and 50 Cent had signed The Game under a joint venture.

Do it exactly the way I said do it man
These n****s is p**** you heard me?
Get up nice and close, ya
I put that battery in his back
I'm the reason why he moves like that
That's my motherf***ing toy soldier
You don't want to play with my toy soldier
I say it's on then it's on until your life is over
F***ing with my toy soldier, if he's a casualty of war
Trust me I got more, you don't want it with my toy soldier
Now listen up close and follow instructions
Catch a n**** slippin' run up on them buck 'em
I ain't got no conscience, no morals or nothing
They ain't with us they against us we supposed to touch them
Here's what to do if you see them approach me
Pop that n**** I don't care if he know me
Half the n****s hating on me use to be homies
I don't trust them when they smile or playing 'cause they phoney
Every time I come around they call the police on me
That's why the D's and the prisents know me
They know about my rap s***, they know how I'll clap you
Run like I'm in a track meet, swift with the Mac be
Can see the envy in there eyes for sure man
Mad as a motherf***er that I'm holdin'
See me in the back of the phantom
Quick to make examples out of n****s for sure man
Hold me down
I put that battery in his back
I'm the reason why he moves like that
That's my motherf***ing toy soldier
I tell him pop that gat, he gonna pop that gat
You don't want to play with my toy soldier
I say it's on then it's on until your life is over
F***ing with my toy soldier, if he's a casualty of war
Trust me I got more, you don't want it with my toy soldier
Shoot, stab, kill motherf***er
You ain't 'bout it, I don't want you around c***sucker
Every word out my mouth is felt
That Uz I pop, them hollows so hot your a** will melt
Barber razor in the club, stunt, ill give ya a shape up
Have your a** stitch, gauged, your head all taped up
N****s know how I get down
See they know when I'm around, my soldiers around
And if some s*** goes down and a n**** get laid down
It's no surprise cause n****s know how we get down
Black tints on the tested Rosta, hammer out the hosta
Gat in my lap in case you gotta get clapped
You monkey n****s went to my hood
We on that guerrilla s***, you clap off and miss
We come back and start killing s***
Catch us on the corner wearing black chinchilla s***
We organized, disciplined plus we militant
I put that battery in his back
I'm the reason why he moves like that
That's my motherf***ing toy soldier
I tell him pop that gat, he gonna pop that gat
You don't want to play with my toy soldier
I say it's on then it's on until your life is over
F***ing with my toy soldier, if he's a casualty of war
Trust me I got more, you don't want it with my toy soldier
Through the window into a mans soul
Fill you with holes listen homes
I'm the man for the job, we ain't playing
Yayo, come on
I'm in the coupe or phantom and the body kitted
Waves in my hair looking like Tsunami hit it
N****s scheme the infrared beam on the mac
I put green on your head like a Oakland A's Hat
My boy was a douljah, now he's a soldier
My little son Dula, lettin' off the Ruger
In the whip mashed up looking for his enemies
Riding and ga**ed up off double D batteries
Tonights casualties is hooked to them Iv's
That's when I squeeze, click clack take that
Fall back, it's a contract 50 grand
I'm 50's Man
I put that battery in his back
I'm the reason why he moves like that
That's my motherf***ing toy soldier
I tell him pop that gat, he gonna pop that gat
You don't want to play with my toy soldier
I say it's on then it's on until your life is over
F***ing with my toy soldier, if he's a casualty of war
Trust me I got more, you don't want it with my toy soldier
Ya, this is the general speaking
When I say move, n**** you better move
Soldier, I want nobody talking to none of my n****s
Come around with here with their bulls***
Trying to feed n****s bad information and s***
That's how my toys malfunction
The song "My Toy Solider" by 50 Cent expresses the concept of loyalty within a world of violence and power dynamics. 50 Cent describes his crew as soldiers, who follow his commands and act as his "toys" in the game of war. He puts a "battery in their back," meaning he gives them the motivation and drive to do what he wants, including killing and shooting if necessary. The lyrics also suggest that 50 Cent is always on guard, watching for potential threats and ready to strike back. He warns other people not to mess with his "toy soldier" and that he is willing to go to great lengths to protect himself and his team.
The lyrics also articulate a sense of betrayal and distrust, highlighting the idea that people who were once friends can become enemies. 50 Cent shows that he is always aware of the potential danger posed by people who were once close to him, and he warns against trusting anyone who might be "phoney." The song thus explores the dangers and complexities of living in a world of crime, where trust is hard to come by and loyalty is one of the only constants.

50: “Here is what u do, if u see em approach me… Pop that niqqa, I don’t care if he know me!” That line is hard AF! And YAYO was the perfect feature for this track, he went off “50, give me the word! That’s When I SQUEEZE!!!”. 🔥🔥🔥 50 was one of the best on knowing how to put a track together.
