Jackson was born and raised in South Jamaica, a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens. His mother Sabrina, a drug dealer, died in a fire when he was 8. Since his father had already abandoned the family, young Curtis was sent to live with his grandparents. Growing up during the crack epidemic of the 80s and 90s, Jackson dealt drugs when he wasn't "killing time" at school or boxing at a local gym. His grandparents assumed he was at after-school programs when he was out selling crack. In tenth grade, Jackson was caught with guns and drug money passing through the metal detectors at Andrew Jackson High School in Queens. In 1994, Jackson was arrested again for selling vials of cocaine to an undercover officer, and three weeks later he was arrested yet-again after police found heroin, crack cocaine, and a starter pistol in his home. Jackson was sentenced to 3 to 9 years in prison, but opted to join a 6 month boot camp program and get his GED. Around this time, Jackson began going by "50 Cent," inspired by deceased Brooklyn stick-up man Kelvin "50 Cent" Martin.
After leaving drug dealing to pursue a rap career, he released his debut album Guess Who's Back Again in 2002. He was discovered by Eminem and Dr. Dre and then signed to Interscope Records. He has since released Get Rich or Die Tryin' (2003), The Massacre (2006), Curtis (2007) and Before I Self Destruct (2009).
50 Cent has engaged in feuds with other rappers including Jay-Z, Ja Rule, The Game, Cam'ron, Fat Joe, and Rick Ross. He has also pursued an acting career, appearing in the semi-autobiographical film Get Rich or Die Tryin' in 2005, the Iraq War film Home of the Brave in 2006, and Righteous Kill in 2008. 50 Cent is one of the richest hip-hop performers, having a net worth estimated at US $440 million in 2008.
Before 50 Cent ever inked a major deal, he built up a substantial fan base in New York through underground mixtapes. 50 Cent met up with Jam Master Jay of Run-DMC and was signed to his label to write all of Jay’s music. After he’d left JMJ, he signed to Columbia Records in 1996. On this label, he released Power of the Dollar, and the singles How to Rob and Ghetto Qua Ran. Columbia Records released him from the label after being shot on May 24th, 2000.
Around this time, Eminem had heard one of 50 Cent’s demo tapes and expressed a huge interest in him on MTV, as did Dr. Dre. Shortly after this, 50 Cent officially signed to Interscope Records. He was the first rapper to sign to the joint label owned by Dr. Dre and Eminem. The first song he released on this record was entitled Wanksta and was featured on the 8 Mile soundtrack.
In its first week of release, his debut ”Get Rich Or Die Tryin’” sold 872,000 units - easily reaching Gold status. Within the second week it went Platinum (1 mil) and on April 12th, 2004 the RIAA certified it six times Platinum.
In 2005 he followed the success of his album Get Rich or Die Tryin’ with a new release - The Massacre (originally called St. Valentines Day Massacre until the release date was pushed back). The first single released off this, Disco Inferno, was a huge hit - he followed this hit up by the release of Candy Shop and then again with Just a Lil Bit.
In 2003 Interscope Records allowed 50 Cent to have his own label - G-Unit Records. He first signed Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo and Young Buck as the established members of G-Unit Records. In 2004, Dr. Dre and 50 Cent had signed The Game under a joint venture.

Ya'll n****s know, find me at my do' when the guns come out
Ya'll n****s know (wut wut ya'll n****s know what I'm about)
Ya'll n****s know, find me at my do' when the guns come out
I do this all the time, stuck with a little shine
Walk with a little nine, case I get in a bind
Cause I'm down to bust a n**** head all the time
Now you know the hoes, they know how I roll
In that new Rolls with the suicide doors
22 inch chrome, a n**** money low
You try to touch me, I put out ya get ya brains blown
You go against the grain, p**** and you on ya own
You right there in my zone, welcome to the terridome
The ice blowin' my chain, blood blue in my veins
Blue still in the range, I'm doin' my thang
The semi auto spray, run if you get away
I'll find your whereabouts and clap at you another day
n**** play with the bread, get a hole in ya head
You touch a dime of mine thug and your a** dead
Ya'll n****s know (wut wut ya'll n****s know what I'm about)
Ya'll n****s know, find me at my do' when the guns come out
Ya'll n****s know (wut wut ya'll n****s know what I'm about)
Ya'll n****s know, find me at my do' when the guns come out
In the hood, hoopty, hate low, n****s don't know I'm around
Hop out, hit 'em up, lay my murder game down
You see me in ya projects, 187's in progress
Hard n****s finna' soften up when that lead touch 'em
You cut 'em once and keep fight, f*** it just keep cuttin' em
Its real killa instinct, kill or be killed
Trust me, you don't wanna feel how hollow tips feel
F*** around and get ya cap peeled
n**** you know the drill, Brownsville
Flat bush, ground heights, Brooklyn Zoo
Feed the wolves, they eat the food
And the hand that feed 'em too
n**** welcome to the jungle, New York New York
Gangstas use sign language and let their guns talk
I'm cool with some bloods, I'm cool with some crippes
I'm cool but if there's a problem, n**** I got extra clips
I don't know karate, but I split the bricks
I don't love 'em loverboy, we the s*** b****
Ya'll n****s know (wut wut ya'll n****s know what I'm about)
Ya'll n****s know, find me at my do' when the guns come out
Ya'll n****s know (wut wut ya'll n****s know what I'm about)
Ya'll n****s know, find me at my do' when the guns come out
I'll come through and touch ya, walk out then cut ya
In case your dumba** wanna tussle
AR-15, co-exist to make the shell case muffle
Scope, infrared, run you're still dead
Hit your calf, hit your a**, hit ya back, then your head
Contract killa, murder for the scrilla
Search, find a n****, run up behind a n****
Shoot car windows out to flatline a n****
Gun pop, heart stop, homie this is heavy
You on your way to meet your maker, n**** are you ready
No exception to the rule, death is promised
Plus I just bought my n****s new macs and llamas
Got respect for human life but will accomadate you.
One phone call and n****s will exterminate you
No future f***in' with me, there's no tomorrow
n****s'll run up on you tonight and hit ya the hardest
Ya'll n****s know (wut wut ya'll n****s know what I'm about)
Ya'll n****s know, find me at my do' when the guns come out
Ya'll n****s know (wut wut ya'll n****s know what I'm about)
Ya'll n****s know, find me at my do' when the guns come out
The song "Phones Come Out" by 50 Cent is a gangsta rap that talks about the artist's reputation as a ruthless and violent individual who is not to be messed with. He portrays himself as someone who is always prepared for any situation, with a gun in his hand and a determination to take down anyone who dares to cross him. He talks about his lavish lifestyle, with a new Rolls Royce and a lot of money to throw around. He also mentions the gang culture in his hometown, with different groups like the Bloods and the Crips, but asserts that he is above all of that and does not take sides.
50 Cent's lyrics are very graphic and full of violent imagery. He talks about how he would kill someone without remorse if it came down to it. He also warns those who mess with him that they are "on [their] own" and that he has no qualms about taking them down. He mentions different neighborhoods in Brooklyn as places where he can be found, always ready to defend himself with his gun.
The song's chorus repeats the phrase "Ya'll n****s know, find me at my do' when the guns come out," emphasizing the theme of violence and the artist's readiness to defend himself with lethal force. Overall, "Phones Come Out" is a typical gangsta rap song that glorifies violence and the gang culture.
