Jackson was born and raised in South Jamaica, a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens. His mother Sabrina, a drug dealer, died in a fire when he was 8. Since his father had already abandoned the family, young Curtis was sent to live with his grandparents. Growing up during the crack epidemic of the 80s and 90s, Jackson dealt drugs when he wasn't "killing time" at school or boxing at a local gym. His grandparents assumed he was at after-school programs when he was out selling crack. In tenth grade, Jackson was caught with guns and drug money passing through the metal detectors at Andrew Jackson High School in Queens. In 1994, Jackson was arrested again for selling vials of cocaine to an undercover officer, and three weeks later he was arrested yet-again after police found heroin, crack cocaine, and a starter pistol in his home. Jackson was sentenced to 3 to 9 years in prison, but opted to join a 6 month boot camp program and get his GED. Around this time, Jackson began going by "50 Cent," inspired by deceased Brooklyn stick-up man Kelvin "50 Cent" Martin.
After leaving drug dealing to pursue a rap career, he released his debut album Guess Who's Back Again in 2002. He was discovered by Eminem and Dr. Dre and then signed to Interscope Records. He has since released Get Rich or Die Tryin' (2003), The Massacre (2006), Curtis (2007) and Before I Self Destruct (2009).
50 Cent has engaged in feuds with other rappers including Jay-Z, Ja Rule, The Game, Cam'ron, Fat Joe, and Rick Ross. He has also pursued an acting career, appearing in the semi-autobiographical film Get Rich or Die Tryin' in 2005, the Iraq War film Home of the Brave in 2006, and Righteous Kill in 2008. 50 Cent is one of the richest hip-hop performers, having a net worth estimated at US $440 million in 2008.
Before 50 Cent ever inked a major deal, he built up a substantial fan base in New York through underground mixtapes. 50 Cent met up with Jam Master Jay of Run-DMC and was signed to his label to write all of Jayβs music. After heβd left JMJ, he signed to Columbia Records in 1996. On this label, he released Power of the Dollar, and the singles How to Rob and Ghetto Qua Ran. Columbia Records released him from the label after being shot on May 24th, 2000.
Around this time, Eminem had heard one of 50 Centβs demo tapes and expressed a huge interest in him on MTV, as did Dr. Dre. Shortly after this, 50 Cent officially signed to Interscope Records. He was the first rapper to sign to the joint label owned by Dr. Dre and Eminem. The first song he released on this record was entitled Wanksta and was featured on the 8 Mile soundtrack.
In its first week of release, his debut βGet Rich Or Die Tryinββ sold 872,000 units - easily reaching Gold status. Within the second week it went Platinum (1 mil) and on April 12th, 2004 the RIAA certified it six times Platinum.
In 2005 he followed the success of his album Get Rich or Die Tryinβ with a new release - The Massacre (originally called St. Valentines Day Massacre until the release date was pushed back). The first single released off this, Disco Inferno, was a huge hit - he followed this hit up by the release of Candy Shop and then again with Just a Lil Bit.
In 2003 Interscope Records allowed 50 Cent to have his own label - G-Unit Records. He first signed Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo and Young Buck as the established members of G-Unit Records. In 2004, Dr. Dre and 50 Cent had signed The Game under a joint venture.

Yeah i am NY no lie
They say they do it
Like I do it with no mask on
Nigga, get the fuck outta line
You getting blast on
Jesus let the weak roam the
Well, Iβll stomp ya fucking head
Til itβs under the surface
Now I need you to get
It through ya bloodclot head
Before I put a bullet
Through ya bloodclot dreads
These niggas ain't made of the
Same shit Iβm made of
I dump a clip for my man if he need a favour
I let a nigga slide he came
Back and almost shot me
Then he was thinking I was scared
Nah nigga not me they donβt understand I was
Raised by the vultures
Kids laughing like hyenas in a
Crib full of roaches
Call grandmami "mommy" cause
Mommy already dead
Daddy been missing since I was a little kid
Now who dared go there playing
Games with the orphan
They know my pedigree, test me Iβmma off βem
Stop the blood clot crying
The kids, the dog, everybody dying, no lying
Donβt cry, dry your eye
Donβt cry, dry your eye
Stop the blood clot crying
The kids, the dog, everybody dying, no lying
Donβt cry, dry your eye
Donβt cry, dry your eye
That first body drop, we
Just getting started, death come in threes
AR15, M16, semi-automatic, murder machine
Wave that, blaze that, give a nigga wings
When that blade in your
Flesh itβs an emergency
Your love leak, heart open call the surgery
Feels like my last girlfriend I lost her
On second thought I know just
Where I left her, the altar
See, I have an advantage I
Donβt care about tomorrow
Find out that I ain't frontinβ when
Them casings start to fall
You know attempted murder was the
Case that they gave me
9 bullet wounds, now a nigga half crazy
What is that a tear I see forming in ya eye
Why are you so frightened?
Weβre all gonna die
You can say a prayer when
Iβm coming like the reaper
Staring through that sight on the
Top of my heater now
Stop the blood clot crying
The kids, the dog, everybody dying, no lying
Donβt cry, dry your eye
Donβt cry, dry your eye
Stop the blood clot crying
The kids, the dog, everybody dying, no lying
Donβt cry, dry your eye
Donβt cry, dry your eye
In these lyrics, 50 Cent is expressing his identity as a native New Yorker, proudly stating "Yeah I am NY no lie" multiple times. He emphasizes his authenticity and credibility in the rap game, suggesting that no one can do it like he does. He warns anyone who steps out of line, threatening to retaliate and use force if necessary. He refers to himself as a powerful force, capable of causing harm and asserting dominance over others.
The lyrics also touch on themes of survival and resilience. 50 Cent reflects on his upbringing, explaining that he was raised in a challenging environment, surrounded by poverty and adversity. He mentions being raised by "vultures" and living in a home infested with roaches. He experienced the absence of his parents β his mother is already deceased, and his father has been missing since he was a child. These difficult circumstances influenced his perspective and mentality, making him tough and determined.
Furthermore, the references to violence and death highlight the harsh reality of 50 Cent's life and the dangers he has faced. He recounts a situation where someone tried to harm him, but he withstood the attack and refused to show fear. He maintains that those who challenge him or endanger him will face severe consequences. This demonstrates 50 Cent's willingness to defend himself and his loyalty to his friends, suggesting that he would go to great lengths to protect them.
The repeated line "Stop the blood clot crying" serves as a metaphorical call to stop expressing fear or showing vulnerability in the face of danger. 50 Cent urges others not to cry or feel distraught because death is inevitable for everyone. He expresses his lack of concern for the future, implying that he lives in the present moment and doesn't worry about the consequences of his actions. Instead, he embraces his role as a menacing figure, likening himself to the Grim Reaper, ready to bring death to his enemies.
Overall, these lyrics showcase 50 Cent's gritty and unapologetic attitude, highlighting his experiences in an unforgiving environment and his determination to survive and succeed. They also portray his readiness to defend himself and his loved ones, emphasizing his resilience and lack of fear in the face of adversaries.

50 is a goat. His hooks are amazing and he has good flow and lyrics. He was like no other when he came out. Eminem even had his eyes open to him it should mean something.
