The Crew
7Seconds Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The older I become
I can't help thinking hard about,
What's really gonna happen,
And what's in store for

Us and them is bullshit,
And if we're gonna make it work
We've gotta care together
And see this too the end, see it to the end

[Chorus]
It'll take some time to fix it up
But that is something we must do,
With solid hearts and clearer minds,
We'll raise our voice and blast right through.
We'll stop the ones who fuck it up,
And show the world that they can't stop the crew.
The crew is me, the crew is you, yeah we're the crew!

The threat of war ain't over,
And yes I fear it's getting near,
With all this hate inside us,
It all may just start.

Here now will you listen,
Or would you rather just ignore
You say we have no future,
Do we have a chance? Do we have a chance?!

[Chorus]

Overall Meaning

In "The Crew" by 7Seconds, the artist is contemplating the state of the world and the future of humanity. As he becomes older, he can't help but think about what will happen to all of us. He dismisses the "us versus them" mentality that plagues society and suggests that in order to survive and thrive, we must care for each other and work together. The chorus implies that this will take time and effort, but it is a necessity. The artist is also worried about the threat of war looming and how it might not be too far off considering the amount of hatred and division in the world. He calls on listeners to pay attention and not ignore the warning signs.

In essence, the song is essentially a call to action, urging individuals to band together and take a stand against the issues that threaten to tear society apart. It suggests that the responsibility to make positive changes lies with each and every one of us. The song also touches on themes of unity, the dangers of prejudice, and the importance of hope.

One of the best Hardcore bands ever. One of my all time favorite records. Definitely one of the funnest shows. Influenced so many bands for over three decades. SXE, but accepted everyone. Scene unity comes first. Never missed them when they played in SLC. 46, and still a Hardcore kid. Like Kevin says "I'm gonna stay young until I die"!

+Reid Ellis "SXE, but accepted everyone. Scene unity comes first". You nailed it! :) At that time (I'm also 46) SXE was all about staying clean from drugs and booze, caring and showing respect to your partner.
Nothing to do with the set of rules that it has become for many people in recent years.
And yes one of the best hc bands, for sure my favourite. Countless time have I listened to this record!

@dembones2560
