so for keys
week 1 i did 40 keys at the 12 range just to get all the item i want (i managed to fill about 9 slots)

this week pushed every key i could to the 17-19 range in order to get my 2k rating for upgrading.

now im farming valor. my main is at about 292 and slowly working his way up.

this is the first season where i mained a dps spec. and i have to say i had noticeable difficulty joining groups. for any day keys while my guild was offline i had to fall back onto tanking or healing to get into groups which was sucky, ( i play a paladin btw, and it is hilarious when a group invites me to tank with my 225 legendary but wont invite me to dps. )

slight tanged here but just on the ah, with the merger i did a price vs quantity cost analysis on my server vs the eu. and then proceeded to invest 600k in various herbs and consumable. i shared my data with a friend who also went in 300k. we are predicting a return of about 85%

as a last harra on my server i took control of the shadow core oil market. and raised the price from 12g to 40g and proceeded to make about 40k ~ small change but its the end of an era so it was nice to finish on a high.

im happy the market is merging it will be better for most players. reduced liquidity risk and harder for people like me to actively manipulate the market.

Another solution that would be a bit complicated on the backend:
Person A posts 100 runes for 50g each
Person B posts 50 runes for 49g 99s each
Person C posts 50 runes for 99g each
Person D looks up runes on the AH and sees two listings:
150 runes at 50g
50 runes at 99g

Basically the AH will group very closely priced commodities together and eat/generate gold to be fair to buyers and sellers. Still think the picks should be randomly pulled from the pool though. Depending on the threshold that would cause auctions would actually separate, this would kill reposting altogether and highly discourage undercutting without losing a massive amount of gold

@Matthew H pretty much every design choice they've made since around legion has been one that's kept you focused solely on one character... or you'll fall behind the curve and lose out...

building your game around f.o.m.o mechanics while it may keep asses in seats through psychological manipulation doesn't make for a healthy environment that creates player base growth networking or even fun... it's a fucking job, one that people are rapidly tiring of...

When shadowlands launched we saw a rapid influx of players "we always see this" but when they were greeted with more of the same bullshit borrowed power grind till you die mechanics that have been rehashed since artifact weapons in legion the player base shrunk back to below bfa maintenence levels... in essence people want to play wow just not this wow... we see the major evidence of that with the classic and bc classic launches and no doubt wrath will show the same metrics... people want old wow back and this ain't it chief ao when they finally get their heads out of posteriors and actually focus on good core mechanics and stop the psychological manipulation we will likely see healthy player growth again..

@Matthew H no but you could create alts and run multiple healers, tanks, or dps, enforcing the emphasis on keeping the players active in every range of pve play... and item level hadn't been implemented or as it was "gearscore" and people who were maybe not perfect bis geared for the content could actually come and do said content to get said bis gear...

I just started doing
Mythics this week. As a dps i know how hard it is to get into mythic dungeons by yourself. I run with a guild mate who is a tank and one who heals. I have been thanked many times just for letting people in the group who have a 230-250 ilvl. It can be really hard to find pre-made groups later in the expansions due to the ilvl gap between players.

I really enjoy the way gearing works right now, I dont want to raid, it takes to much time but I love to mythic plus, its the best content in the game for me so i just want to be able to do the highest mythic plus content without having to do raid at all.

I've always kind of thought of raiding as 'the type of content you do if you can be bothered'. In Tier 25 it was absolutely necessary since the bis azerite traits came from raid gear for my spec (havoc), but in SL it feels like it hasn't ever really mattered for the specs I've played. It certainly isn't worth my time and effort, and drops are so stupidly rare from raid that it makes it extremely hard to even want to raid.
M+ is by far the best possible way for me to gear, as I can basically jump into 15's on any character and perform well enough to time them with friends/push groups, and the upgrade path is essentially free/passive.
Raiding is by far the worst possible way for ANYONE to gear and has no upgrade path and is a complete waste of time. If raid bosses were repeatable, I think raiding would have a LOT more attention, I'd certainly raid a shit load more, it would be more rewarding and actually give you an option for power progression.

@Brandon Boss if you think people leaving mid key is bad now you should've seen legion. Was sometimes hard to finish runs. Also a lot of people would make the super groups again wanting endgame ilvl for basic teen keys. Was a real problem in legion.

Edit: less incentive to finish key rewards bad behavior and punishes the good folk that stay to end after deplete.

Randomizing the pool would only result in the exact same thing as before the AH rework: people would just aggressively undercut and and prices would get driven down to ridiculously low levels. Regional commodities in the AH will not change that. They would have to automate the price of literally every commodity, and it would work exactly like WoW Tokens.

The best gearing system in PVP came from WoD. Basically free honor gear, then conquest cap was 10 wins a week, and would go up higher per rating. Was fun and easy, and let people who play alot of pvp feel rewarded for faster gearing...
Then about 1/3rd into the season, everyone would have enough conquest for full gear.. flattening the inbalance in toon power completely.

Dungeons have the gear advantage for speed, but raid gear is guaranteed and still better. So over time they have the gear advantage like usual. The best items come from raids (now that you get them from all 3) now for most classes with the exception like mechagon rings.

If Blizzard did introduce the share-the-sale technique for the AH you talk about, it'd instantly lead to undercut-by-a-copper that we saw pre-LIFO. People would rather lose a copper profit and have the guaranteed next sales than get 1c but only have an x% share of the sales. Both the undercut and the cancel-scan metas that we've seen in recent xpacs will both be staggeringly difficult with the new region wide AH. It's going to be an interesting time and the infrastructure will get absolutely hammered.

Uncapped Valor has been great fun. Now, I really doubt blizz will keep this for DF, because I don't think they want players to finish gearing a character in the first two to three weeks, but if they did go with it - how could raids be changed to be a viable gearing path?

Imo, they should keep it for DF. If the no lifers want to ruin their own enjoyment of the game - let them. However if a regular player may want to have a small sprint goal then this is good.

What might be worth considering, and what our original plan was, was to start with Heroic, and when we hit a boss wall. Say four wipes or so, we'd go back to normal. Figuring we could blast normal and those who got gear from the heroic bosses would be able to trade any additional items they got. (in theory)

@Araghast Yeah alts always get screwed, but still you can put in spam keys, make sure everyone has a 2, can change at end to try and get the dungeons you want/fastest. IDK i still drop into a 2 as a 2.5k blood dk, help people get stuff done.

@dardack Yeah that is for the most part pretty good, though I am kinda unsure how much I actually like the current spam farming of +2s though, but then again, upgrading an item from a +2 costs a lot of valor at least. Also one thing that is kinda bad with the current speed farming +2s and just ignoring rest, is that before people started with that, people were pretty much farming any dungeons. Playing on DPS alts were pretty easy as well, because you could just be running your own keys and create groups and easily get good people in the list, now its a bit harder.

Also, you can farm for the item you want on a +2-13 without feeling like you'd be wasting valor to upgrade it. Before getitng the trinket/item you wanted that wasn't a 14+ you were wasting the little bit of valor you had.

But she was not letting us past the bridges in phase 2. Those adds wrecked us so bad. Really was a surprise how hard they were. It was like they were getting the weekly Fort buff.

The cons to the last in first out is the equivalent of what we had before. A player posts something, another will undercut by a copper or silver, also driving prices down, and some items below vender sell price lol. Last in first out is better than what we had before.

My suggestion for the auction house is similar to FILO however if you were the most recent person in the pool to list an auction say 50 augment runes and someone buys 30 of them, rather than you stay at the top of the pool the game moves you to the bottom of it and the person who is second in the pool after you listed becomes the top of the pool so at least its constantly rotating who is at the top of the pool around. It's not perfect but I don't think it's a terrible idea.

I suppose one problem with that could be people degen removing stacks of items once they have sold something to jump back up to the top of the pool. So to make that work the game would need to remember your place in the pool after you sold something so that if you remove the listing and relist it puts you back there to wait your turn to be top of the pool again. Only if the auction expires would it put you to the top of the pool again

You know what I'd like to see for 9.2.7 till Dragonflight launch.
50% exp buff and 100% rep buff.
That way everyone can get their alts all sorted for Dragonflight and also work on the remaining paragon cache items they don't yet have.

I like the system, but i think ilvl's need adjusting, and possibly slightly faster raid gear. Maybe its because im older and played the game for a long time but its weird that m+ is this bastion of giga gearing for a raid tier. I raid with a mythic prog guild and every tier now its a rush to bang out tons of m+ to get geared to do raid content. We have raiders that cant keep up with that kind of scheduling anymore and they rely on the m+ grinders for drops. Ive thought this was a strange take on things since m+ was released. I feel like they got the ilvls backwards for raiding/m+. The difficulty vs reward is off and it doesnt feel good to do raids like it used to.

My thoughts exactly, when you get the same ilvl/powerlvl gear from a +15 and mythic raid, something is wrong. I'm Allso a "older" player from vanilla/tbc, if someone had good gear back then you automaticaly knew they were the real deal. Now every twonk has top gear from trash pull simulator.

We've been doing normal to get dinar progress then jumping into heroic. I've been doing 3 normal clears a week both last week and this week, super easy even with last tiers gear. Both CN and SoD take around 2 hours for a full clear. If you guys raid 2 3hr nights like we do (super casual), it's definitely of worth to do a normal clear one night and do as much in heroic the next that way at least you have all of your vault slots / boss kills for your dinars.

@Veganerd yeah you'll get people weave in and out pending on what bosses they need, just gotta reload. Probably worth mentioning my group is only about 6-8 people, so we end up pugging the rest. I believe the last run we had me and pug healing (I could pretty much solo heal it as an rdruid I was pushing around 20k hps per fight to the other guys 5k), both of the tanks were ours and 3 of the dps were ours and we ran 2-2-10 and pretty much one shot everything. Try and do your runs early in the week and you can be a lot more picky on pugs. The later in the week the less people you'll get.

@Joshua Drake 258 WW Monk. I made my own pug and picked people who were pretty much 265, but most were more toward 275 and higher. Had people leaving after most bosses. Fatescribe ended up being where I was stuck the longest.

@Veganerd what kind of gear level are you bringing into your raid? Are you guys managing any kind of mechanics? Our main runs have been incredibly easy because we're overgeared but we've been running on our alts as well with success at around 265 ilvl on average (more in line with what the raid is tuned for). CN and SOD are incredibly undertuned imo and even with a 265 ilvl group you can ignore a lot of the mechanics.

I think the random pool could work, if it somehow was also able to favor someone whose listing is about to expire. That would discourage people from cancelling and reposting to get into a lower cost pool, because now you're getting favored the longer your auction has been up.

Maybe there's something obvious I am missing here, but this seems like it would solve a lot of the problems both with LIFO and with the petty penny undercutting. It would not be a guaranteed "Hey your auction is about to expire in 5 minutes so we're 100% picking your item" but just a sort of bad luck protection for the auction. You get X% added to the random chance to be selected for every Y minutes/hours your auction has been up.

Got to 297 item level second week. I hope they remove valor caps for future seasons. It incentivizes higher rated players to do lower keys with lower rated players.

@Abesss yeah I'd expect that out of 75% of fotm rerollers though. You generally don't reroll because you're great at your main spec unless your pushing world first keys. I haven't played much this patch yet but even season 3 I did 20s with a ele sham and a boomy. Hard to get less meta than that lol. I just meant pug mentality not what's possible.

M+ is op for gearing right now. I saw many people with full 10/12 mythic gear in the first week making it insanely hard to get into groups even at 283 ilvl

I'm really enjoying this season so far. Not having a valor cap feels so so good. I'm not wasting valor after the first few dungeons each week and it'll help gear alts afterwards. Lower Kara is still pretty tough, but overall I'm liking the dungeons.

Fated raids are fine. I don't really care for raiding, but I want those guaranteed raid items so here we are again. At least it's not really prog again.

I came back to season after not playing season 3.
I was ilvl 252 dps (arcane of all the specs) and I geared myself just fine, this week I did my 1st m15 for the vault as ilvl 267 at the time.
You wanna know my secret? No, it is not guild or friends cause all of my friends quitted long ago, and neither of the guilds I joined so far was active (went through two 500+ members guilds that have <10 messages per day in gchat) my secret was, I ran my own keys, sure I spent sometimes even 30 min finding people for it, but hey at least those keys happened, my odds of joining someone else's key at that level were nonexistent.
I think this season is great, this is how things should always be, and people who bitch about not being able to find groups are screwing themselves over by being too lazy to make their own.

i have been gearing with 246 from relics, i get a full set from the world boss every week and most of what I do is play wow so I make raw gold at the rate of around 900k per week so im fine to buy runs to gear up past that as needed

Interesting idea regarding the auction house, but I don't think that will work for the simple reason that the market will move back to undercutting - as you indicate yourself may happen. Even with a regional auction house, I don't see this not happenning - I think you have to keep in mind that there are professional auctioneers at work (people who play that part of the game, often exclusively) and region-wide will just ensure they're everywhere, all the time. It's optimistic to think this behaviour will change.

The closest thing to an answer I can think about, although it has it's limitations, is to make any cancelled auction remove from the AH immediately, but only arrive in mail later (10m, 30m, an hour?). Clearly for materials this has it's limitations - you can just post more of the same to the AH. Still, I'd implement this as a first priority to try to shift behaviours.

This leads me to the best additional 'solution' I can think of - disallow posting of any material to the AH that has been cancelled by that player in the last period (an hour?). It's not perfect, but it's probably about the best we're going to get. And fated raids? forget about it, max level Dungeon gear makes them a joke. lmfao

I do M+ and Raids raids only have 2-3 items for my class that rally worth it.
started a fresh hunter on new server in S3 end and unliked my mains got up to 2K rating and when season 4 started group finding was the best its been in a long time keeping up with the general RIO requirements was really easy i ended up actually out gearing most of the S3 players very fast to the point where i got my 2K rating in week 2 and ilvl 293 currently.
was able to join a casual guild to be able to raid and pug normal's to make sure i get 10/10 as i dont trust the guild 100% for HC cleared
for money Herbs have been paying for all my Legos i do probably play a bit more than a normal player in week playing 4 hours and weekends doing about 10Hours.
as soon as week 3 ends i will probably take it much easier only pushing rating for M+ but its really been a amazing season.

here's my opinion:
It's a bad thing that people of all gear levels should grind their honor over and over again to get to that point where they can do arenas.
Because of this the gap between a fresh 60 and a previous season is very big.
What I think they should do are 2 steps:
- first the ranks of pvp gear should be less far apart. back in the day this was 20 ilv max.
- secondly consider this.people that have gear usually switch to arenas and rbgs so if we did step 1 people wouldn't play bgs as much. The solution to this I think are new achievements.
A lot of people care about achievements. what will happen is that sometimes geared people will join rbgs but that's to farm achievements or just to gear up. Let's be honest atleast hunting achievements is more fun that spamming 20 bgs a day for a week

M+ feels alright, it's not last season of bfa fun, but it's also not the nightmare of 9.0 gearing. I'll take it as a "please don't leave" season. The first 2 weeks of the season have had terrible affixes so we will sew how fun it is when it's not sanguine grievous or necrotic.

More people than ever have KSM by friday of the second week, and many of them have already stopped playing. This applies to at least 3 people in my guild. On top of that, the M+ itemization is hot garbage (that's what happens when you randomly choose dungeons from random expansions with totally unrelated loot-tables) and the fated raid system means you can only go for loot you WANT once every 3 weeks. The dinar system is a garbage alt-loot system that forces you to farm bosses you don't need anything from in order to get an item that will always be behind in ilvl and never catch up until the end of the patch.

The ilvl increase should have applied to ALL THREE RAIDS at ALL times, leaving the "fated" affix for one of them at a time and added new cosmic-themed loot to the tables of the currently fated raid. The dinar should be removed and trinkets should have their personal-loot limitations removed, meaning that a trinket with the correct primary itemization will ALWAYS be in your loot table ( ex: healers can actually loot resonator without having to get it traded or buy from dinar vendor). As for M+, Blizz suddenly taking a "no changes" stance is BS and disingenuous. The loot tables needed tweaking - having 25% of the dungeon pool not drop any weapons, shields or off-hands is objectively stupid, as is having some of the WoD trinkets but not others. The whole point of WoD's itemization was that it's 100% complete. Almost every stat combination for every slot, and on-use trinkets for every secondary with a primary version and a vers version. Well if you like vers A LOT then you're good.... if you don't, well, fuck you cos those dungeons didn't make the rotation. Oh and don't get me started on Legion M+; a bunch of 12-15% DPS increase trinkets that are only available for one week in the patch.

I'm calling it now, the M+ scene will be deader than it has ever been in previous patches, and it will die quicker too.

I think this update is a huge FIX, as I recently had purchased Shadowlands (played from Vanilla to BFA) and within a couple weeks hit 60 and acquired 90% BIS [invested a lot of time in a small amount of period so that I could play end game content) - out of nowhere Season 4 starts and the amount of TIME gating was increased so much that I was locking out my weeks worth of activities within a few instances {3 hours in one night and now I’m capped out for the week outside of farming mythic keys}

Painsmith is rough, bro. I stopped raiding seriously many years ago. I never even touched LFR from like WoD forward. With season 4, I decided to get back into LFR. It really is the only casual gearing option, since Zereth Mortis is functionally worthless. I had never done any Sanctum bosses before and I have to say, Painsmith was a nightmare. Lots of people running around, not sure what was going on. Lots of deaths. Having never done the fight before, I caught on quickly to needing to kill the balls to create a spot to run through, but managing everything else was pure chaos.

So taking that and amping it up to heroic must have been nuts. Don't get yourself too down about not downing enough bosses. Consider yourself lucky that your guild hasn't totally melted down from some huge wave of drama. I wish I still had some fun people to play with.

Anyway, thanks for the video. Enjoy the rest of season 4 and Dragonflight, when it goes live! Maybe I'll run into you someday. 😁

As much as I have liked the idea to play a Dragon PC since I started table topping back in 83, I have no desire to play the Dracthyr in the upcoming expansion. The soar ability to me is just a mini game, that I have no desire to even remotely try. That said will I buy the expansion, probably even though I really won't be using all of the expansions features or additions.

While I will try the new crafting to maybe make money that isn't my motivation when it comes to gaming as I usually charge the lowest money to help out new players. I play the story; I try to do the achievements because being a solo player not able to commit to a guild schedule daunting.

9.2.7 is a big FU for casual players. The new deal quest is NOT on the 9.2.7 PTR. That means you cannot get the 35% to do the ZM patterns quest, nor the honor to upgrade some your gear with PVP items. it ends running ZM for any of my alts.

You want to hear my Drama? Despite never doing Castle Nathria before(I skipped the first two "Seasons" because i generally hated Shadowlands vibe, but Zareth Mortis and Revendreth have grown on me, F*** Korthia tho), and got into a Normal mode run as Tank... and despite asking a few questions on wether i'd need to drag a boss anywhere, and if so, When.. I did VERY, VERY well.

Then the Leader left cuz he already got the last two bosses, and Leader went to some random DPS... who then banned me for "being annoying" and he "Wanted to to this the entire run".

Because i was asking questions, even tho i did not fail as a Tank once, our only wipe was because the Girl in Blood Court was bugged at the time... maybe its because i kept asking if i was doing adequately? I don't know... i generally stick to World Content and LFR, because anything above that is full of toxic people who get offended if you've not reduced the entire Raid into rote memorization yet.

PVP's even worse, to my experiance.

I read the title "LET THEM FARM! Blizz Lifts Weekly Limits", listened to the whole video and didn't see the weekly limits on farming old raids I was expecting to hear about, that people have been asking for for years. Oh. Just valor and conquest. 0/10 clickbait title.

They changed PvP conquest cap by 100 in a previous announcement, as though they were doing players a big favor. The problem was that the limit was gating new players to PvP out of gearing entirely, as of course those players would take ages to gear up, during which they would consistently be matched against other groups that were fully geared from last season.

You can gear so fast in m+ if you keep running dungeons you'll keep getting gear and Valor. Imo the issues with gearing speed for raiding and pvp wasn't really a thing until they came out with m+.
With raiding you can get lucky and have multiple levels of raiding.

Pvp with caps throttles what you can do by quite a bit.

this is nothing new. raiders have ALWAYS had to gear to max ilvl through mythic plus to mythic raid, at which point mythic raid gear will usually be better as it is less RNG than max-ilvl m+ vault gear towards the end of an expansion. i wish raiding had better item level. gearing with m+ is too easy to pass up. takes less time, less people.

The simplest and most fair solution for a commodities market on the AH is to simply have the AH buy and sell infinite quantities of them in the same manner as a vendor BUT every time someone buys something the price goes up a bit and every time someone sells something the price goes down a bit (exact amounts vary by population and item rarity). Essentially this simulates a realistic supply and demand economy while being far more fair and convenient for everyone than an actual commodities market ever could be.

your random purchase suggestion would make everyone undercut, at least when speaking of huge quantity items, such as crafting mats. imagine adding 100 leather to an existing stack of 10.000 equally priced pieces of leather. You would at most sell 5-10 of yours before the auction expired. However undercutting ever so slightly to create a new much smaller pool of items with that new price, making your items be a much bigger percentage of that pool, would make sense. This would just create a circle of undercutting by like 1 copper, like it was in the past.

The random selection thing would 100% result in undercutting, which is bad. Nobody should ever EVER undercut on commodities. There is no reason for it. You gain nothing, and you hurt every other seller.

@Joshua Drake the group leader also might be looking for melee vs ranged. They might want a lust/hero or brez.I’m around 1700 score, 287ish ilevel and play a meta class. I still don’t get into most groups. It’s a math game right now. Like you said list your own key.

FIrstly, no one doing m+ cares about aotc, I wouldn't even bother using that as a selling point. Most of us don't even care about last seasons KSM. Something you should take note of though is that the average ilvl of people running keys right now is around 285-290. So if I were to put my key up (even a +4, people still want valor and targeted gear and low keys are the path of least resistance) and a bunch of 280+ people sign up with 1500+ mythic rating and then a 269 dh signs up with 500 (don't know what your score is, but I'm guessing you haven't been running a lot), who am I going to pick? When you're behind the curve for raiding, what do you do? Everyone and their mother already has aotc and want to see an achievement before letting you into your group, so what do you do? You run your own, right? Same thing applies here. Pick you up a keystone and make your own groups. Build you up a score, get you some more gear, etc. Once you're caught back up you should be able to get into groups and target what you want. You'll also see just how quick people (especially dps) are applying to groups and see first hand why you are being declined. I play a 285 resto druid and still get declined, it's just what happens when 80 people apply to a key and there's only 5 spots. Just keep pushing.

RNG would force under cutting with every cancel and relist because due to the nature of RNG, its possible your listing could NEVER get selected in the given time frame that its up even if over 50% of all listings sold.

maybe one solution might be to priorities same server sales first before pulling from another server but that would leave low pop servers in a state of "easy to buy, hard to sell" which is sort of the opposite reason you might try to be on a low pop server. (easy to sell since low competition but hard to buy due to low supply)

if logistically there are far more buyers in the game than people listing things, then maybe it works out just fine.
the hard part will be comprehending 1 million listings and realizing that's a low supply that will sell out quick
or 20 listings of another item is far too many to ever expect to sell without under cutting.

I find it funny that posting items less than other people is considered verboten in WOW. It is simple supply and demand. When you post something, you are increasing supply. More supply, with the same demand = lower price. I don't see what's so hard about that.

I really don't understand why raids should be the main and dominant content in the game. Personally, I don't have enough time for multi-hour raids, at the same time, I would love to spend half an hour - an hour in 20 mith-key.

I unsubbed. I quit playing shortly after Shadowlands came out because I thought the expansion was awful. Came ack for a 2 months to level some alts to 50 to get ready for Dragonflight (I'll level them from 50-60 in a decent expansion when Shadowland hits Chromie Time) and had a blast with the XP buff. That XP buff was some of the most fun I've had with the game in years. When they turned off the XP buff and announced the slime cat mount was only available in normal raids ( I'm nowhere near geared enough for normal raids) I just dipped. I unsubbed and went back to Guild Wars 2 until Dragonflight comes out. Little too late in the game for me to care about raiding.
