Singer, Songwriter, actor and Music Producer, was born in Barranquilla, Colombia. He began his career at the young age of thirteen by writing a song and creating the melody for the famous salsa composer Jairo Varela "volver a empezar", which then inspired his love and passion for music.
A.B. junior moved from Colombia to the United States in 1999 where he continued to pursue his passion for music. In 2001 he joined the salsa group Los Titanes de Colombia as the lead singer and recorded two salsa albums "titanez en vivo" and "los titanes de alberto barros".
Seeing the need to expand his horizons in the music industry A.B. Junior attended Sound and Audio Engineering School where he earned his degree in Audio Engineering. Upon graduating he is now one of the few, if not the only, artists that is able to produce, arrange, compose, engineer, and perform on his tracks. With his growing passion for the hard-hitting bass sounds of hip-hop, and the passion of his roots, salsa, AB junior created a fusion of these two high-energy sounds. In his album you can hear this fusion in songs like Latin Lover, Mambo, Don’t Lie, and Te Voy A Amar.
A.B. made his first collaboration with music producer Marlon Kapry with singles called "enamorados" y "No me digan nada". A.B. joined Andrea Santachika in the salsa group "luna llena" , this duo was formed in 2009, directed by his father Alberto Barros, their first album called "homenaje a Pimpinela". After participating in the salsa duo luna llena, A.B. Junior met with producer ill Factor and Steve Max and collaborated in the music single "Leile". A few months after met Producer Rodrigo Millar and collaborated on his NeXT single "Vida tan bella".
A.B started acting in 2010 in small roles with telemundo in novelas like "alguien te Mira" y "mi corazon insiste", later on in 2011 had an invitation to participate in a theatre play "Lorca vive" directed by Miguel Sahid. The lyrics to A.B. Junior's song "Hotel" seem to reflect on a relationship that has gone sour and the aftermath of heartbreak. The chorus repeats the word "hotel" and the phrase "hotel rumba," which could be interpreted as a metaphorical space where the singer is stuck, possibly representing a state of emotional and mental confinement. The lyrics suggest that the singer's heart is depleted of energy since their partner left, and they feel lost without them. The line "niogo ya bolingo yako futa" means "the love you have erased" in Lingala, a language spoken in parts of Africa, further emphasizing the theme of lost love.
The lyrics also express a sense of longing and nostalgia for the relationship, with the singer stating that their life no longer has meaning since their partner's departure. They mention being in their "hotel rumba" and how they want to dance with someone on their "kishta," which could signify a desire for human connection and intimacy. The repetition of the phrase "bolingo nanga s'est exilé na motéma nayo" means "my love has exiled itself in your heart," suggesting a longing for reconciliation and the hope that their love can find its way back to their partner's heart.
