Rise Up
A.L.X. Lyrics

So you won’t get hurt
It’s getting lonely and
It’s dark outside
Is this what you deserve
You count your blessings in three
Like you were taught to
You’re living life on borrowed time
Given all the blessings
And the love you’ve known
Are you gonna rise up
Instead of letting go
Are you going to rise up
Like the son
Are you going to rise up
A new world has begun
It’s not easy for you
To give up your pain
It’s the only thing you understand
Letting go seems so insane
I’m not asking you
To tell me your truth
I’m only wondering if
You’ll be prepared
For what you have to do
Given all the blessings
And the love you’ve known
Are you gonna rise up
Instead of letting go
Are you going to rise up
Like the son
Are you going to rise up
A new world has begun
You try to hide it inside
So you won’t get hurt
It’s getting lonely and
It’s dark outside
Is this what we deserve
The lyrics to A.L.X.'s song "Rise Up" convey a message of self-reflection and perseverance. The song addresses the fear of vulnerability and the struggle to let go of pain. It begins by acknowledging the tendency to hide emotions and build walls to protect oneself from being hurt. The lyricist points out that this approach leads to loneliness and darkness, questioning if this is the kind of life one truly deserves.
The chorus focuses on counting blessings and living life with gratitude. It encourages the listener to rise above their circumstances instead of letting go. The reference to rising up "like the sun" suggests a renewal and awakening, a metaphor for personal growth and transformation. The line "A new world has begun" indicates the possibility of a fresh start and a brighter future, should one choose to rise up and embrace it.
The song recognizes that letting go of pain is not easy, as it becomes a familiar and understandable point of reference. However, the lyricist does not demand the truth from the subject but wonders if they will be prepared for what they need to do. This could imply that change and growth require courage and a willingness to face the unknown.
Overall, "Rise Up" encourages listeners to confront their fears, embrace their blessings, and rise above their circumstances to create a new world for themselves.
