It was founded by the singer and guitarrist Andrés Giménez in 1992 in Buenos Aires, Argentina with Aníbal Aló on drums and Marcelo Corvalán on bass and backing vocals.
They originally formed under the name of "Animal", but due to legal issues the name was quickly changed to the actual version. A.N.I.M.A.L.'s sound is that of heavy metal and most lyrics are in defense and in favor of ethnic minorities and original peoples of Latin America; this can be seen in many song titles like Solo Por Ser Indios ("Only For Being Indian"), Guerra De Razas ("Race War"), Poder Latino ("Latin Power") and Raza Castigada ("Punished Race").
The band's success grew taking it to play in most Latin American countries, the United States and Europe. In 1999, Iongtime bassist Marcelo "Corvata" Corvalan and then drummer Andres Vilanova (who joined the band at age 17, replacing Martín Carrizo) left the band . Marcelo and Andres were replaced by Cristian Lapolla and Marcelo Castro, however around this time the band entered a clear and slow downward spiral as many fans started losing interest in it.
After a year or so, Marcelo Castro was replaced by Javier Dorado who had briefly joined the band back in 1993 and was replaced in 2004 by Martín Carrizo who rejoined the band.
In 2006 it was announced that the band would take an indefinite break; this resulted in Martín Carrizo's (drummer) leaving the band and Andrés Giménez forming a new band called D'mente (word play meaning both demente ("lunatic") and devil mente ("devil mind", Andres' nickname).
Former members Marcelo "Corvata" Corvalan and Andres Vilanova now play together in the band carajo.
Revolución
A.N.I.M.A.L. Lyrics

Otra verdad, otra realidad
Seremos mas, revolución hoy
Resta pelear, resta seguir firmes
Sobrevivir, sobrevivir, si
Una actitud debemos llevar
Integridad, autocontrol, ya
Parado con los pies en la tierra
Puedes elegir
De que lado estar
Nuestra libertad
Vale mucho mas!
Se despierta un siglo
Virgen y agresivo
Se despierta un siglo
Mal nacido a tiempo
Revolucionar nuestra condición
Revolución, tomar lo que es nuestro
Se puede oler, se puede sentir
Mucha ansiedad suelta en la calle
Revolución, Revolución Hoy!
Se abre el telón, raza sin paz arde
Sigue tu ley, sigue tu ley
Porque al final todos nos vuelve
Sigue tu ley sin pisar a los demás
Revolución, Revolución, arde
Revolución de hoy
The lyrics of A.N.I.M.A.L.'s song Revolucion talk about a call to revolution against the current state of affairs. The first few lines urge the listener to clear their mind of any preconceptions and embrace a new reality, which will lead to strength in unity. The following lines indicate that surviving in such a reality will require a strong attitude characterized by integrity and self-control.
The chorus emphasizes the revolution, with the singer encouraging the listeners to choose which side they want to be on. The lines, "our freedom is worth much more," suggest that the revolution is needed to reclaim the freedom that has been lost. The second verse describes the current state of affairs as a "virgin and aggressive" century, inhabited by "badly born" people. The singer argues that the only way to change this condition is through revolution, taking what belongs to the people. There is a sense of urgency and restlessness, with the singer urging that the revolution takes place immediately.
Overall, Revolucion is a song that speaks to the need for social change and the power in unity. It reflects the feelings of unrest that can arise in a population faced with difficult political or social circumstances, and it conveys the idea that change is possible if people come together and take action.
