Passion
A.R. Rahman Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I would say the best thing I learnt from a woman, is just, you know
The power of the heart, you know what I’m saying
Just to see that work in their life and how that turns out like my grandmother
Somebody that was always kind to people
To the point where you might feel like you gotta protect her
Baby what is passion
Passion’s when you’re not overreacting to er’ lil’ thing I do
I can feel your soul, I’m tryna dive into your molecules
Take a shot, we’ve gotta follow through
So what you tryna do, I'm talk to you
Not everybody around us think’n that knew
They ain’t ever know
Baby what is passion
Passion’s when your putting words into action
Fuck it, I’m about to leave all this shit off in the past tension
Rage is you’re attraction, guess why you’re trippin', you don’t ever have traction
Always a distraction, my pretty little accent
(Accent, accent)
You’re my pretty little accent
(Accent, accent)
I love you and I love you not, wish you could’ve seen the plot
But now I’m just tryna touch er’ city, make it hot
Get this shit bubbling like it’s melting in a pot
I don’t wanna leave this in distraught
Was really plottin’ on puttin’ your legs in air
The way you arch your back, would’ve thought you were from the Lou
Could sprinkle a little magic with the things you do
All them things you do
Halo over your head with a set of horns
This ain’t new, I done seen this before
Think it came back just to settle the score
A fallen angle comes in many forms, and shapes
And that you are and it’s no debate
But even things we love, we can grow to hate
Damn, I don’t wanna hate
And you always come back
(Come back)
Always come back
(Come back)
Always come back, right, right
And we always come back
(Come back)
Always come back
(Come back)
Always come back, right, right
And we always come back
(Come back)
Always come back
Want no slack, right, right
You don’t want no slick
(No slack, no slack)
(Uhh)
Know I’m the type to see the pleasure in the pain, this is a shock to the brain
I’m feeling mentally drained
This is a disclaimer, please back up from the frame girl
Bet you don’t get the picture, you keep switching different figures
It’s hard for me to pin point what gets you trigger'd like

Man, cut this shit the fuck off, please
(What triggers you)

Overall Meaning

The mentioned lyrics are from A.R. Rahman's song "Passion." These lyrics delve into the theme of passion and the complexities of a romantic relationship. The opening lines express the artist's admiration for the power of the heart, which he learned from a woman, possibly referring to his grandmother. The artist acknowledges the kindness and vulnerability that can make someone feel protective.

The lyrics then explore the concept of passion, highlighting the importance of not overreacting to small things and instead diving deep into the essence of a person's soul. The artist wants to take a shot at pursuing this passion and asks the other person what they want to do. It implies that their love and connection are not understood by others, adding an element of exclusivity.

The following verses suggest a turbulent relationship dynamic, with a reference to rage as an attraction and the lack of traction that causes tripping. The artist acknowledges the distraction caused by the other person's beauty and accent. The conflicting emotions of love and uncertainty are portrayed as the artist mentions their desire to make the city hot and not wanting to leave things in a state of distress.

There is an intriguing contrast mentioned in the lyrics between the image of an angel with a halo and a set of horns. This suggests a complex nature within the person the artist is addressing, referring to them as a fallen angel who comes in various forms. It acknowledges that even things we love can lead to feelings of hate, highlighting the internal struggle the artist might be experiencing.

The repeated lyrics "always come back" signify a common pattern in their relationship, where they find a way back to each other. This is portrayed as both a good and challenging aspect, as indicated by the line "want no slack." The artist desires a deep understanding of what triggers the other person, willing to find pleasure even in the pain, but also expressing mental exhaustion and the need for boundaries.

Overall, the lyrics of "Passion" explore the multi-faceted nature of a passionate relationship, where love, attraction, conflict, and vulnerability coexist, leading to a complex emotional journey.

Oh! My! God! A track so worthy of being restored! Back in 1999, when this got released, it was rare to have two instrumental tracks in the same movie album. This, and Raaga Dance, were two awesome tracks, not to mention the Western version of Taal Se Taal Mila, that I was obsessed with! Lost count of of the number of the times I played that audio cassette!

@vm3699

Yes mine favourite is the western version .
