Oh tell me Lord, why am I here?
Lost in all our pain and sorrow
Are we to live in pain and fear?
Oh tell me Lord, why am I here?
In these lyrics, A.W.o.L. expresses a deep sense of confusion and searching for meaning. The singer addresses God directly, posing a fundamental question about their existence: "Oh tell me Lord, why am I here?" This query reflects a common existential dilemma of feeling lost and disconnected from the purpose or significance of life.
The next line, "Lost in all our pain and sorrow," suggests that the singer is overwhelmed by the hardships and suffering experienced both personally and by humanity as a whole. The use of "our" implies a shared experience of pain and sorrow, indicating a desire for understanding and perhaps solace in the face of a seemingly chaotic and harsh world.
The following line, "Are we to live in pain and fear?" reinforces the theme of suffering and explores the human condition of living amidst constant anguish and anxiety. It highlights the absence of answers and guidance, as the singer seeks reassurance from a higher power in understanding whether pain and fear are an inherent part of existence.
The repetition of the question, "Oh tell me Lord, why am I here?" at the end of the lyrics signifies a persistent yearning for clarity and purpose. It reveals the deep longing within the singer to find meaning, to make sense of their presence in a world rife with pain and uncertainty. This repetition suggests that the question remains unanswered, indicating the ongoing search for understanding and the continued quest for enlightenment and spiritual fulfillment.

๐ถ These friends of mine will come and go
I'm the first to leave, the last to know
I'll be swimming in a face of flames
For these friends of mine I've overpaid
And I guess I wanted, I guess I wanted
I just want you to know (To know, to know, to know)
All of these things make me who I am
Maybe, all of these things make me who I am
Maybe, all of these things make me who I am
And I am only looking on it with my hands down
All of these things make me who I am
Maybe, all of these things make me who I am
Maybe, all of these things make me who I am
And I am (Only looking on it with my hands down)
Things are glistening
So thanks a lot for listening
I guess I wanted, I guess I wanted
I just want you to know
All of these things make me who I am
Maybe, allโฆ ๐ถ
