Elevation
A.Young Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Ya, I'm on a mission from God, apparently way up high
Somebody told me I'm supposed to, cause I'm some kind of ruckus
It's my purpose, my destiny, and all I need is elevation
I'm so excited, anticipation's making me shaky, ya
Emancipate their minds and I'll drive them to see clarity
No more lies and devise, they gotta recognize honesty
They need to believe in the vision, I'm an advocate of unity
My rhymes are flowing as if it were
A steep waterfall, trying to escape the struggle's that comes with a dark hard wall
Ya, more wisdom and understanding is what we must unveil
So we can all rise up and break the chains of jail
This is the sign of elevation on this hip-hop tune
A higher state of mind for the people who consume elevation's rhyme
I'm counting up all the days, I'm breaking through these chains
So I can get away, get away, get away, get away
Welcome
And Mr. X to the Z
Listen
All praises due to the most high
And everything perceived by my third eye
I was raised a Jehovah's Witness
Found quickly nothing was in it
That organized religion, I'm a soldier with a vision
Addiction was not an option
Give me a fighting chance, I'll fight any nigga and drop him
Yeah, I see, mutilated, separated, disintegrated, I barely made it
Yeah, you not ready and don't want non
I named my own son after a used gun
Yeah, that means I'm really with the (what now?)
Not a waste of time, my time is precious in the pulpit

I'm counting up all the days, I'm breaking through these chains
So I can get away, get away, get away, get away

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of A.Young's song "Elevation" convey a strong sense of purpose and determination. The opening lines suggest that the artist feels called to fulfill a higher mission, one that may be guided by a spiritual force. This sense of being chosen to cause a stir or create a ruckus in the world becomes the driving force behind the artist's actions.

The artist recognizes the power of their words and the potential impact they can have on others. They highlight the importance of honesty and truthfulness, calling for an end to lies and the need to recognize the value of unity. The artist believes in the vision they present and wants to emancipate and enlighten the minds of their listeners.

The flowing rhymes, compared to a steep waterfall, symbolize the artist's desire to break free from struggle and overcome obstacles. They emphasize the need for increased wisdom and understanding to break the chains that bind individuals and hinder their progress. This elevation of mind and spirit is promoted through the medium of hip-hop, offering the people who consume their lyrics a higher state of consciousness.

The second verse introduces Mr. X to the Z, who shares his perspective on organized religion. The artist explains that he was raised as a Jehovah's Witness but quickly realized that it did not hold the meaning he sought. He describes himself as a soldier with a vision, determined to break free from addiction and fight for what he believes in. The mention of naming his own son after a used gun suggests his commitment to his principles and perhaps a connection to his past struggles.

Overall, the song "Elevation" expresses a deep conviction to create change, inspire unity, and challenge the status quo. The artist recognizes the potential of their words to bring about transformation and strives to break free from personal or societal limitations. The lyrics convey a sense of urgency, as the artist counts the days and yearns for freedom from the chains that hold them back, symbolizing their desire to escape and move forward.

First time hearing Nate on Yth Nation, I’m fairly new to YTh nation, although I’ve watched Elevation Church since last year, I’ve watched both Elijah and JT and of course everyone knows the the Pod King Tim Ross! Never missed a press B! But Nate is low key a theological speaker that you know he mulled over hours in that book, he’s dope quiet and a mini Preston Morrison low key bar-dropper! Idk if he knows who that is but that is a major compliment to him! Ya’ll are dope and in my book I think Nate is a low key diamond digger for that word bro and he speaks bars bro💎. That’s it haha, much love you all.
