Lifeline
A. G. Cook Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You are my lifeline
You, you are my lifeline

Take a look at my soul
Try to dip it in gold
So they tell us lay low
Turn the key and let's go
And I don't know what I'm thinking
But I believe there's a reason
If every door is left open
Would you show me the way?
(Oh, yeah)

You are my lifeline
You, you are my lifeline

You-ou are my lifeline
You, you are my lifeline

Melody with no notes
Memories with no home
DNA with no bones
Artificially grown

And I don't know what they're thinking
But I believe there's a reason
If every door is left open
Would you show me the way?

You are my lifeline
You, you are my lifeline

You-ou are my lifeline
You, you are my lifeline

You're my lifeline, you're my lifeline, ooh

You are my, you are my

You are my lifeline
You, you are my lifeline (would you show me the way?)
You are my lifeline
You, you are my lifeline (would you show me the way?)

You are my lifeline
You, you are my lifeline

Overall Meaning

In A.G. Cook's song "Lifeline," the lyrics seem to reference the idea of searching for meaning or purpose in life. The singer seems to be addressing someone who is important to them, calling them their "lifeline." The first verse talks about trying to turn something intangible like a soul into something concrete and valuable, like gold, but it's not clear why. The second half of the verse suggests a desire to escape, to leave something behind and start anew.

The second verse continues this theme of ambiguity and uncertainty, with lines about a melody with no notes and memories with no home. The singer seems to be questioning the validity of their experiences and identity, wondering if they are real or just artificial constructs. Despite this confusion, they still believe that there is a purpose or a way forward, and they turn to their "lifeline" for guidance.

Overall, the song seems to be about feeling lost or disconnected but finding comfort in the presence of a significant other. The "lifeline" is the anchor keeping the singer connected and grounded even as they explore their own sense of self.

Maybe if A.G is distracted by releasing new music Hannah can escape the basement to finally release Reflections.

@Number9Robotic

Hannah already said AG finished the last song on the album since August of LAST YEAR. Hannah's been free from the basement for over a year; reason it's taking so long is she has to finish all the visual accompaniments for it herself, AG has nothing to do with it anymore.
