Sin city
AC/DC Tribute Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Poor man last, rich man first
Lamborghinis, caviar
Dry martini, Shangi-La
I've got a burnin' feelin'
Deep inside of me
It's yearnin'
I'm goin' in
To Sin City
I'm gonna win
In Sin City
Where the lights are bright
Do the town tonight
I'm gonna win
In Sin City
Oh, let me roll you baby!
Ladders and snakes
Ladders give, snakes take
Rich man poor man
Beggar man, thief
Ain't got a hope in hell
That's my belief
Fingers Freddie, Diamond Jim
They're gettin' ready
Look out! I'm comin' in!
So spin that wheel, cut that pack
And roll those loaded dice
Bring on the dancing girls
And put the champagne on ice
I'm goin' in
To Sin City
I'm gonna win
In Sin City
Where the lights are bright
Do the town tonight
I'm goin' in
To Sin City
The lyrics to AC/DC Tribute's "Sin City" describe the lure and glamor of Las Vegas - an adult playground where people indulge in vices such as gambling, drinking, and partying. The first verse paints a picture of the stark economic divide that persists in society, where wealth is concentrated at the top and poverty at the bottom. The second verse introduces the game of chance - ladders and snakes denote the unpredictable and unstable nature of life. The chorus declares the singer's intention to dive into the chaos and win big, fully embracing the risk and excitement.
The song seems to be a celebration of hedonism and recklessness, with lines like "I'm gonna win in Sin City" and "let me roll you, baby." However, it's worth noting that the lyrics also articulate a sense of desperation and hopelessness, particularly in the line "ain't got a hope in hell, that's my belief." This suggests that the allure of Sin City is not just based on the promise of pleasure and success, but also a desire to escape from one's problems and fears.
"Sin City" was written by the legendary songwriting duo of Angus Young and Malcolm Young, and was released in 1978 as part of AC/DC's album "Powerage". The song has become a fan favorite and a staple of the band's live performances.

"High Voltage" from Norway who only play Bon Scott songs is considered to be among the best AC/DC cover bands ever too.
Looks like Belgium and USA also have a "High Voltage" band.
