Jane
AL.EX Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Black Jane doesn't love anymore
The whisky bottle crashes in her soul
She hates the stars in the black sky
And curses the last cry
Red hair dies on her eyes
Black boots trample debris
A cloak of pain and drinking warms her
She only loves the smell of the wind
Looks like a witch
Chewing a twig
Runs along the river bank
Runs faster than it
The ice is still and everywhere
She moves nervously
Black loves, to play with death
But it's pureness that shakes
As the wind that shakes her hair
Red hair die on her eyes
Looks like a witch
Cold, fast and sick
Black Jane doesn't love anymore
The whisky bottle crashes in her soul
She hates the stars in the black sky

And curses the last cry
Black Jane disquised by your fate

Overall Meaning

These lyrics paint a vivid picture of a woman named Black Jane who has lost the ability to love. The mention of the whisky bottle crashing in her soul suggests that she relies on alcohol to numb her pain. She despises the stars in the black sky, perhaps symbolizing her disdain for anything beautiful or hopeful in life. In her bitterness, she curses the last cry, indicating that she is filled with anger and resentment.

The description of her red hair dying on her eyes and her black boots trampling debris illustrates the disarray and chaos in her life. She wears a cloak of pain and drinking, implying that she uses these vices as a shield to protect herself from further emotional turmoil. However, despite her detachment from love, she still finds solace in the smell of the wind, suggesting that she still seeks comfort in the natural world.

The lyrics portray Black Jane as a witch-like figure, chewing a twig and running along the river bank, seemingly trying to escape something. The mention of her running faster than the river indicates her frantic and desperate state of mind. The presence of ice everywhere adds to the imagery of a cold and desolate environment, reflecting her inner turmoil.

The line "Black loves, to play with death" suggests that Black Jane is drawn to dangerous and self-destructive behaviors. However, amidst her darkness, it is the purity that shakes her. This could imply that deep down, she longs for something genuine and sincere, despite her current state of despair. The wind that shakes her hair serves as a metaphor for the emotional turmoil she experiences.

The repetition of the phrase "Black Jane doesn't love anymore" emphasizes her inability to feel love, while the whisky bottle crashing in her soul represents the destruction of her inner self. Her hatred for the stars in the black sky and her cursing of the last cry further showcases her deep sense of bitterness and anger. The closing line, "Black Jane disguised by your fate," suggests that she has become overwhelmed and consumed by the circumstances of her life.

Overall, these lyrics paint a bleak and troubled portrait of Black Jane, a woman who has lost the ability to love and is trapped in a world of darkness and despair. The imagery and metaphors used in the lyrics highlight her painful journey and the complexities of her emotional state.
