Sooner or Later
Aaron Carter Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

These past days and past nights
Walks under streetlights
Something don't feel right
Sooner or later she'll be
Trips to Chicago
Don't call me crazy, this time tomorrow
You lead me, I'll follow
I got the tables, I bought the bottles

Sooner or later she'll
Be walking away, I got something to say to her
Sooner or later she'll
See what's inside, I've put something away for her
Man, I'd do anything for her
Sooner or later she'll be

(She'll be)
(She'll be)
(She'll be)
(Sooner or later she'll be)
(She'll be)
(She'll be)
(She'll be)
(Sooner or later she'll be)

I ain't pulling you back
When you feeling like that
I ain't tripping, getting mad
'Cause sooner or later she'll be
Coming right back
When you feeling like that
I ain't tripping, getting mad
Sooner or later she'll be

Sooner or later
Sooner or later

Tell me, I'm not sure
Don't tell me I'm not yours
I stop moving backwards
But sooner or later we'll be
Jets over oceans
I need your body on me like lotion
'Cause a commotion
Worship your body, call that devotion

Sooner or later she'll
Call me and tell me she's feeling alone tonight
Sooner or later she'll
Text me and tell me that she's leaving on the light
Guess I'm not going home tonight
Sooner or later she'll be

(She'll be)
(She'll be)
(She'll be)
(Sooner or later she'll be)
(She'll be)
(She'll be)
(She'll be)
(Sooner or later she'll be)

I ain't pulling you back
When you feeling like that
I ain't tripping, getting mad
'Cause sooner or later she'll be
Coming right back
When you feeling like that
I ain't tripping, getting mad
'Cause sooner or later she'll be

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Aaron Carter's Sooner or Later are about a man waiting patiently for his love interest to realize their connection and come back to him. The song opens with the singer describing the unease he feels in his current situation, suggesting that he knows something isn't right. He talks about the things they have done together, such as walks under the streetlights and trips to Chicago, hinting at the romantic nature of their relationship. Despite whatever is going on between them, he lets her go, trusting that she will return to him eventually. This is seen throughout the song as he says, "I ain't pulling you back when you're feeling like that, I ain't tripping, getting mad."

The chorus, "Sooner or later she'll be," repeats throughout the song, emphasizing the idea that he believes their connection is inevitable. He describes what he has for her, saying that he put something away for her, and would do anything for her. Towards the end of the song, he talks about how they will be together, using the metaphor of jets over oceans, and asks her not to tell him that she isn't his. The song ends with the repetition of the chorus, "Sooner or later she'll be," one final time.

What makes the song interesting is that it's part of Aaron Carter's comeback, having not released new music for over 15 years. It is also noteworthy that the song was co-written by Carter and his brother Nick Carter, who is a member of the Backstreet Boys. The song garnered some controversy due to the similarity between some of its melodies and those of Lady Gaga's song Applause, which caused some to accuse Carter of copying Gaga's work.

He released this ages ago.

I loved it from when I first heard it WHILE HE WAS ALIVE.

It really takes the piss that it didn't get millions of views very soon after it was put on YouTube.

The song including its lyrics, riffs, music, beats, everything are extraordinary.

It's magical.

Beautiful.

I can't believe so many have only heard it AFTER he has died.

Messed up world we live in.

Endless love for you from me Aaron Carter.

I always loved you, was one of your biggest supporters and rooted for you to get well and be mega successful again in your comeback after many years.

I'll always be heartbroken at how you died and left us so suddenly and that you couldn't overcome your terrible, terrible demons.

I hope you Rest in Peace.

Never forgotten, we love you AC x

I agree. I was pleasantly surprised. Weโ€™re both the same age. This sounds good for todays rap and pop scene. Some songs sound trendy and very cutting edge. (For kids) his album in 2000 sounded this fresh when we first heard it as kids!๐Ÿ˜‚. Iโ€™m praying for his family. He left us too soon!

It is so sad that Aaron didn't get appreciated by music industry, he sings, produces, plays instruments well, till his last days he's been working hard on his music while also battling with online bullies and other family issues... It breaks my heart that this beautiful young man didn't get to enjoy his life, left his son behind:( R.I.P Aaron, your spirit will carry on, thank you for coming on earth and bring us happiness, you are a beautiful angel, love you and miss you๐Ÿฅบโค

@theravagedgrapefruit8190

You donโ€™t understand how many charities he defrauded, disabled people and children he scammed. He was not an angel. Unfortunately he knew how to con authority figures into leaving him alone to die instead of getting help. His enablers killed him. He didnโ€™t even have custody of his new born son. There is so much to this story you donโ€™t understand. Youโ€™re probably 18 or so and donโ€™t get it. But constructive criticism is NOT bullying. Grow up and get tougher skin. Unfortunately Aaron didnโ€™t. If you watch his lives there would be 50 good comments and one bad one and he would focus on that one. He was a lost soul.

โ€‹@The ravaged grapefruit Scams people? Where tf did you hear those rumors from?? I know him better than you do, I have followed his journey since he was a kid, I was a huge fan of him, and I have seen how Aaron's mental state became worse and worse throughout the years, he would fight his haters but would never hurt innocent people. You probably only started to know him from those crazy live streams he did in the very recent years, he wasn't always like that, his life is way more complicated and I wish I can tell you all about it here. The stuff he went through you can't even imagine. And Aaron is tougher than you think, music industry is so toxic, his family is toxic, social media is toxic, but he choose to keep fighting for his name, working on his music, so don't judge someone from who they became the last couple years, or believe the stuff you see online, especially when that person is clearly struggling. You say he doesn't want help? Of course he wants, he has been saying for years that he wants to get better, and there are many times he did get sober, he even went on the Doctors show to public seeking help.. There are so much you don't know about this person so please respect the dead and let him rest in peace.

@kierayumin5584

โ€‹@The ravaged grapefruit Btw Aaron's fans are mostly not teenagers anymore, so many people grew up with him, he was big in the late 90's and early 2000's, he was part of many people's childhood.
