Bad News
Aaron Frazer Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Can you hear me?
I'm crying
Can you feel me?
I'm trying
Trying to tell you
Trying to show
But you don't listen
So it's bad news
Yeah, it's bad news
Yeah, it's bad news
Yeah, it's bad news
Yeah, it's bad news

I'm on fire
I'm burning
I can barely keep it turning
If I left you, what would you do?
All I know is that'd be bad news
That'd be bad news
That'd be bad news
That'd be bad news
You don't listen
So it's bad news

I know I'm getting older
But the winter seems much colder than before
We should stop and see what you've been doing to me
I can't take much more

I'm on fire
I'm burning
I can barely keep it turning
If I left you, what would you do?
All I know is that'd be bad news
That'd be bad news
That'd be bad news

Ain't no place for hiding
You can try to but the writing's on the wall
I just keep on giving
'Til I just can't keep on living anymore

And it's bad news
Yeah, it's bad news
Yeah, it's bad news
I'm your bad news
Yeah, it's bad news
I'm your bad news
Yeah, it's bad news

I got bad news
I got bad news

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Aaron Frazer's song Bad News are a lamentation from a singer whose partner is not responsive to their attempts to communicate something important. The singer is crying and trying to show their partner something, but it seems like they're not listening. The repeated phrase "bad news" suggests that whatever the singer is attempting to communicate is serious and urgent. The lines "If I left you, what would you do? All I know is that'd be bad news" imply that the singer is considering leaving this relationship, and it's something that their partner should be taking seriously.

The second verse touches on the idea of getting older and feeling the coldness of winter more acutely; it seems like the singer is feeling isolated and unhappy in this relationship. The chorus repeats the idea of the singer being "bad news" - perhaps they're feeling like they're the only one in this relationship who is genuinely invested in making it work. The imagery of "writing on the wall" suggests that troubles in this relationship have been apparent for a while. Ultimately, the singer is tired - they've given and given, but they can't keep giving if their partner won't meet them halfway.

Yes, I had the CBS Saturday morning show on in the background while working on the computer when I heard this song playing. Immediately I looked up from my computer to see who this sound was coming from because right away I thought, "dude has some Marvin Gaye vibe" going on here both in music rythmn and vocals. Clearly Marvin Gaye has influence his sound. Nicely done...intentional or not, a wonderful tribute to the legacy of Marvin Gaye. ❤💯
