Visions
Abnormality Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
A mind ignored in swollen form and without fear
Today I show my face and whispers turn to screams
Visions of what might have been and what will never be
Conforming to rejection, and it's coexisting pain
Until abnormal is routine
And it's routine to tolerate
Spoken too softly, or maybe you didn't hear me
Carved in reflection, the beast in the beauty
Loathing and glistening, or maybe you weren't listening
So where will you run when the sky starts falling?
When your home is nowhere to be found?
Will you remain unscarred beyond relentless crawling
When your world comes tumbling down?
Today I showed my face and whispers turned to screams
Visions of what might have been and what will never be
Cause and effect, and ignorance is bliss
Words can be weapons if that is what you wish
Pause and reflect with the blade at your wrist
The silence is deafening and screams all of this
The song "Visions" by Abnormality begins with the realization that the words spoken have gone unheard, and the mind has been ignored. This has resulted in the singer feeling swollen and fearless, who now decides to show their face. As soon as they do, whispers turn to screams, leading to visions of what might have been and what will never be. The next few lines discuss the struggle of conforming to rejection and the accompanying pain, eventually making abnormality standard and tolerable. The scars they have are lost in translation, spoken too softly, or perhaps unheard. The beauty is now loathed, and it glistens with tears unacknowledged. The last few lines of the song ask a series of questions, where the singer wonders if the listener will be able to face the world despite it turning against them. The song's final lyrics suggest that words can be weapons, and one should pause and reflect on what they say and how they say it, as the silence is deafening and screams everything left unsaid.

@haylestormable
As a woman, being able to sing this (and Nemesis by Arch Enemy) made me wanna become a death metal vocalist too
@ole--
In my opinion, this song shows the potential these guys had back then. You can feel the brutal power with every cord. Even though the synergy between the instruments were too bad, I feel like each one is playing alone. The vocals had a lot of margin to improve (as we have seen later on). The quality of the sound (this has not to be we the band, but with the production... unless the band produced it, which is highly possible) is the quality of a underground just-known-in-my-town band, which was normal for Abnormality back in 2007.
Summarizing, not a good song but showed up back then the real potential of this band, which has been totally established with Contaminating the hive mind, a must in every tech/brutal death metal collection.
Again, IMHO.
