Over one year ago, five young musicians from Skien, Norway, made a very impressive entrance into the Metal World with their debut album “Ripples”, released under the band name ‘Aspera’ by no one less than Progressive top label InsideOutMusic. Media across the globe replied positively with numerous excellent reviews for “Ripples” throughout 2010 and the band built up a great following, not only in their home country. Unfortunately the promotion activities and consequently also the coming live plans had to take a break, when it turned out that the band was in need to change its name due to unforeseen technical reasons. Anyhow, the transition is done: They will be now known as ABOVE SYMMETRY.
ABOVE SYMMETRY Line-Up:
Robin Ognedal – Guitars
Nickolas Main Henriksen – Keyboards
Atle Pettersen – Vocals
Joachim Strøm Ekelund – Drums
Rein T. Blomquist – Bass
First album of Above Symmetry is re-release of debut Aspera album "Ripples", with slightly changes in name, and color on the cover.

Above Symmetry Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The prospect of the future is now unclear
Today I saw the truth, the truth about tomorrow
All that I care for turned to rust
And now I don't know where to go
Have we lost, have we failed will we ever be able to act
Have we come to the point where we don't see the fact?
We plague our nature
We plague our mighty god above
There's no longer salvation
Are we willing to die for nothing
Ungrateful despite the blessings
Tomorrow we'll be confused
Rounded up in panic
Tomorrow we'll flee,
And you'll blame it on me
Can't you see?
We can't resist the temptations we face
In our wasted, shallow lives
And the sound of our misery will never fade out
So If we are the ones
Will we be given mercy for our actions
Or will we have a second chance
Stop the flame from burning out
Where do we go now
Is there nothing more for us to do
Will we find a better place
Or can we stop this fading flame
Have we lost, have we failed will we ever be able to act
Have we come to the point where we don't see the fact?
We plague our nature
We plague our mighty god above
There's no longer salvation
Are we willing to die for nothing
Ungrateful despite the blessings
The song "Ripples" by Above Symmetry speaks about the realization of the harsh truth of the world, society, and the environment. The first line "Today I saw the world, from a different view" signifies a change in perspective, which brings forward the reality that the future looks unclear. The following lines "Today I saw the truth, the truth about tomorrow. All that I care for turned to rust, and now I don't know where to go" suggests that the future is not promising, and everything valuable will eventually lose its worth. The singer is lost and clueless about what to do next.
The lines "We plague our nature. We plague our mighty god above" indicate that humans have been causing harm to the environment and disobeying God's will, and yet, there is no salvation. Despite the blessings bestowed upon humanity, people remain ungrateful and continue to destroy everything, which is emphasized in the line "Ungrateful despite the blessings."
The lyrics also make a reference to the consequences of the actions of humans. The lines "Tomorrow we'll flee, and you'll blame it on me, can't you see?" depict a future where people run away from their responsibility, and the blame game continues. Finally, the lyrics question whether humans have lost the ability to act and recognize the facts or have failed to understand the truth.
