And when I am alone
And when I am alone
Give me Jesus
Give me Jesus
Give me Jesus
You can have all this world
In the morning when I rise
In the morning when I rise
In the morning when I rise
Give me Jesus
Give me Jesus
Give me Jesus
You can have all this world
Give me Jesus
And when I come to die
And when I come to die
And when I come to die
Give me Jesus
Give me Jesus
Give me Jesus
You can have all this world
You can have all this world
Give me Jesus
Jesus
The meaning behind the lyrics to Acappella's song Give Me Jesus is quite simple. The song is essentially a prayer and an expression of the artist's yearning for Jesus' presence in their life. As the first verse states, "Lord when I am alone," the artist is expressing their desire for Jesus' companionship and guidance even during moments of solitude. The repetition of "And when I am alone" further emphasizes this longing for Jesus to be with them through all moments of life.
The chorus, "Give me Jesus / You can have all this world / Give me Jesus," underscores the artist's belief that Jesus is the most important thing in life, surpassing all the worldly pleasures and distractions that exist. The phrase "You can have all this world" is almost a plea, asking to be freed from the traps of materialism and instead to be given the gift of experiencing Jesus' love and presence.
The final verse, "And when I come to die," acknowledges the inevitability of death and expresses the artist's hope that even in their final moments, they will be comforted by Jesus' presence. The repetition of the phrase "Give me Jesus" throughout the song completes the circle, underscoring how the artist's desire for Jesus remains constant and essential throughout all parts of life.
Overall, the lyrics to Acappella's song Give Me Jesus offer a beautiful and heartfelt expression of a deep yearning for spiritual connection.

Hunting for some good old negro spirituals in honor of Black History month. This one is a keeper! Always did love this song. I really need to sing "In the morning when I rise, give me Jesus!" so dragging myself out of bed wouldn't be so hard. It's time to buy myself a clock radio/music player that I can make this song play to wake me up and I wouldn't mind at all if it "played" in my head all throughout the day. =) Seriously, these guys did a great job singing A Capella a very meaningful, moving song. Thank you for sharing - I will hunt for more of their work.
