Their current lineup consists of Hoffmann, vocalist Mark Tornillo, guitarists Uwe Lulis and Philip Shouse, drummer Christopher Williams and bassist Martin Motnik. Before arriving at their current lineup, Accept has undergone numerous lineup changes, being Hoffmann the last remaining original member since its inception, and he is the only band member to appear on each album.
Accept played an important role in the development of speed and thrash metal, and they were part of the German heavy metal scene, which emerged in the early to mid-1980s. They have also been cited as an influence or inspiration by a number of acts, including Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, Testament, Anthrax, Guns N' Roses, Mötley Crüe, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Overkill, Exodus, and Annihilator, as well as fellow Germans such as Helloween, Blind Guardian, Doro, Sodom, Rage, and Grave Digger. Accept achieved its first commercial success with their fifth studio album Balls to the Wall (1983), which is the band's only album to be certified gold in the United States and Canada, and spawned their well-known hit "Balls to the Wall".
Accept have broken up and reformed multiple times. They first split up in 1989, several months after the release of Eat the Heat (which was their only album with Dirkschneider's initial replacement David Reece), but reformed in 1992 and released three more albums before disbanding again in 1997. After briefly reuniting in 2005, Accept announced their third reunion in 2009, with former T.T. Quick frontman Mark Tornillo replacing Dirkschneider (who declined to participate), and the band has recorded five albums with him: Blood of the Nations (2010), Stalingrad (2012), Blind Rage (2014), The Rise of Chaos (2017) and Too Mean to Die (2021); each of those albums renewed Accept's popularity in Germany and entered the top ten charts there.

Revenge is overdue
You took your chance and screwed me
Way back in '82
Inside my hate is burning
My brain's on overload
My innocence is over
I'm gonna be your nemesis
I like it when you scream
I'm the mother of your nightmares
Got a contract to redeem
This one's for you
Right in your face
Just sit on this
And spin around
This one's for you
Your time is up
Stick it, shove it
Where the sun don't shine
You've always been a wise guy
You played at being rough
I stripped away your masquerade
And now you ain't so tough
You're a coward with no backbone
I will crush you with my heel
Put the scrapings in my blender
Add some bourbon, what a meal
I'm gonna be your nemesis
I like it when you scream
I'm the mother of your nightmares
Got a contract to redeem
This one's for you
Right in your face
Just sit on this
And spin around
This one's for you
I hold the ace
Stick it, shove it
This one's for you
Right in your face
Just sit on this
And spin around
This one's for you
A bunch of fives
Stick it, shove it
This one's for you
Right in your face
Just sit on this and spin around
This one's for you
No one but you
Stick it, shove it
Where the sun don't shine
The lyrics of Accept’s “This One’s for You” is a tale of revenge that’s been a long time coming. The persona in the song is seeking to get back at someone who wronged them back in ’82. Their hate has been brewing for so long that they’re now ready to explode. The persona’s plan to seek revenge is to become their nemesis, and they revel in the idea of their target screaming in pain. They are intent on seeking retribution for what had been done to them and crushed their enemy with their heel, putting the scrapings in their blender and adding some bourbon to it, symbolizing the persona’s satisfaction in getting even. The chorus is a declaration of their intention to make their target pay for their wrongdoings, with the persona repeatedly urging their target to sit on it and spin around.
The emotional intensity of the lyrics is mirrored in the song’s music, with the chugging riff and thunderous rhythm that build tension until the eventual catharsis of the chorus. The song features a high energy and aggressive performance, with the persona being portrayed as an avenging angel.
Overall, Accept’s “This One’s for You” is a potent and cathartic expression of a desire for revenge while highlighting the destructive power of hatred.
