Bleeding Heart
Acceptance Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
In a paper bag
Says things change
Maybe it's me
[Chorus:]
You can't fix me up
You can't fix me up
This bleeding heart
Found broken
My innocence
My innocence
This bleeding heart
Layin' down
It grows cold
Autumn's not the same without you
The colors fade
Beautiful to lifeless
[Chorus]
Waiting here for you
Say that now we're home
I write this knowing what to say to you
Crying
Crying
Today there's nothing else to say to you
Crying
Crying
This bleeding heart
This bleeding heart
Found broken
My innocence
My innocence
This bleeding heart
Lay me down
This bleeding heart
This bleeding heart
Found broken
Found broken
The lyrics of Acceptance's "Bleeding Heart" convey a sense of loss and hopelessness that comes from a broken heart. The opening lines, "Sends it home in a paper bag, says things change, maybe it's me," suggests that the singer is being returned something that signifies their relationship is over. The paper bag symbolizes the emptiness the singer feels since the relationship has ended. The following lines, "You can't fix me up, this bleeding heart found broken, my innocence layin' down," convey a sense of sadness and vulnerability. The singer believes that no one can heal their broken heart, and that they have lost their innocence due to the pain the breakup has caused.
The second half of the song shifts to a focus on the changing of seasons, with the lyrics, "It grows cold, autumn's not the same without you, the colors fade, beautiful to lifeless." The changing of seasons reflects the singer's feelings as he lost his love. He once saw beauty in the world, but now he can only see the emptiness of his pain. The chorus repeats the lyrics, "This bleeding heart found broken, my innocence layin' down." These lines are a reminder to the audience that the singer's heart is broken, and repairing it feels almost impossible.
Overall, "Bleeding Heart" is a deeply emotional and haunting song. The lyrics and melody capture the feeling of a shattered heart, and the hopelessness one can feel after a breakup. The song is an ode to the intense pain of heartbreak and is a reminder that time is needed to heal.
