After releasing a pair of albums with the Freestyle Fellowship, To Whom it May Concern... and Innercity Griots, Acey signed to Capitol Records and released his highly acclaimed solo debut, All Balls Don't Bounce, in 1995. He returned three years later with his second album, A Book of Human Language, a collaboration with producer Mumbles.
Acey returned solo again in 2001 with his third solo album, Accepted Eclectic. In 2002, the Freestyle Fellowship returned after 9 years for the release of their third group album, Shockadoom. 2002 and 2003 saw two more solo releases, Hip Hop and the World We Live In and Love & Hate and another A-Team album ('Lab Down Under'). In 2006, Aceyalone released two more solo projects, first, Magnificent City, a collaboration with producer RJD2, followed by Grand Imperial. 2007 sees Acey releasing the first in his planned explorations of world musics, Lightining Stikes.
Widely recognized as one of the more lyrically gifted in the history of emceeing, Aceyalone embodies the sophisticated west coast style that is showcased in other indie artists such as Blackalicious and Del Tha Funkee Homosapien.
Shooby Dooby
Aceyalone Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I poo in me pants
i crawl eat da crumbs
wit da ants
play me dreadred
bagpipe horn
till her pussy
is saggy and worn.
i usually don;t
rap like dis
like dis
but i really want a titty
kiss.
The lyrics of Aceyalone's "Shooby Dooby" are provocative and startling. The song begins with an unusual and repetitive chorus, "Shooby Dooby WaWa Wa Wa," which is meant to distract the listener from the shocking first line of the first verse, "I poo in me pants." The lyrics paint a vivid picture of a man who has given up on basic social norms and has embraced a wild and primal lifestyle. He crawls around with ants, plays a bagpipe horn, and even makes a crass comment about a woman's anatomy.
The bold, unapologetic nature of the lyrics is typical for Aceyalone's style, as he often seeks to push the boundaries of what is considered acceptable in hip hop culture. The use of slang, made-up words and improper grammar adds to the rawness of the song and is meant to serve as an antidote to more polished and refined forms of music. However, beneath the apparent vulgarity of the song lies a message of freedom and self-expression, as the singer refuses to conform to societal norms and instead chooses to embrace his unique identity.
