Green attended Emerson College briefly in 1998 before leaving to concentrate on his music, going on to co-found the anti folk group The Moldy Peaches with Kimya Dawson. In 2004 The Moldy Peaches went on hiatus and both Green and Dawson embarked on solo careers.
Green released several albums on Rough Trade Records. Among his better known songs are "Jessica" (about singer Jessica Simpson), "Novotel", "Friends of Mine", "Dance with Me", "Carolina" and "Emily", and, in Britain, his cover of The Libertines track "What a Waster".
Prior to Jacket Full of Danger in 2006, all of Green's albums had been released on the 22nd of the month. His latest album was released on March 18, 2008 and is titled Sixes & Sevens. Titles include "Morning After Midnight", "Twee Twee Dee", and "Drowning Head First", the latter a duet between Green and his girlfriend.
In January 2008, The Moldy Peaches began having a resurgence in popularity, due to their music being included in the hit indie film Juno.
Twee Twee Dee
Adam Green Lyrics

I'm gonna take you there to see my body
Twee twee dee
One never gets a break
I'm not about to make you enjoy them
Twee twee dee
I want you to hear my voice
I want you to make me laugh
Ballistic on the world
you're running up and down my steps
Twee twee dee
In every single way
the sun is beating off my chest
Twee twee dee
Let's take her advice
because the words that she speaks seems nice
Oh oh
In every single way
the sun is beating off my chest
Twee twee dee
Protection override
I'm gonna make you miserable
Twee twee dee
I was just a good time man
now I've got a mouth of sand
Oh oh
Mismatching underwear
I'm gonna take you there to see my body
Twee twee dee
You'll never understand
I'm not about to make you enjoy them
Twee twee dee
Other guys would scream and shout
I'm the kind that wants you out
Oh oh
Ballistic on the world
the sun is beating off my chest
Twee twee dee
Twee twee dee (twee twee dee)

The lyrics of Adam Green's song "Twee Twee Dee" are intriguing, to say the least. The opening line "Mismatching underwear" sets the tone for the rest of the song - playful, nonsensical, and somewhat nonsensical. The next line, "I'm gonna take you there to see my body," reveals a self-centered and sexually charged theme. The repeated phrase "Twee twee dee" is a nonsensical refrain that could possibly symbolize the singer's own musings and ramblings.
The line "One never gets a break/I'm not about to make you enjoy them" depicts a cynical attitude towards relationships, suggesting that the singer is not interested in pleasing his partner. However, he wants his partner to hear his voice and make him laugh, indicating a desire for their attention and affection. The line "Ballistic on the world" could be interpreted as the singer's ambition and drive to conquer the world, while the line "you're running up and down my steps" implies a sense of ownership over his partner.
The latter half of the song suggests a devolution of the relationship. The line "protection override/I'm gonna make you miserable" portrays a destructive attitude towards his partner. He admits to being a "good time man" but now he feels stuck and unfulfilled. He tells his partner that they'll "never understand" him and implies that he wants them to leave. The repetition of "Twee twee dee" throughout the song could be seen as a kind of mental refuge, a mantra to help him cope with the dissolution of the relationship.
