Green attended Emerson College briefly in 1998 before leaving to concentrate on his music, going on to co-found the anti folk group The Moldy Peaches with Kimya Dawson. In 2004 The Moldy Peaches went on hiatus and both Green and Dawson embarked on solo careers.
Green released several albums on Rough Trade Records. Among his better known songs are "Jessica" (about singer Jessica Simpson), "Novotel", "Friends of Mine", "Dance with Me", "Carolina" and "Emily", and, in Britain, his cover of The Libertines track "What a Waster".
Prior to Jacket Full of Danger in 2006, all of Green's albums had been released on the 22nd of the month. His latest album was released on March 18, 2008 and is titled Sixes & Sevens. Titles include "Morning After Midnight", "Twee Twee Dee", and "Drowning Head First", the latter a duet between Green and his girlfriend.
In January 2008, The Moldy Peaches began having a resurgence in popularity, due to their music being included in the hit indie film Juno.
You're A Heartbreaker
Adam Green Lyrics

You're a love faker,
A heartbreaker playing with fire.
You're a tear snatcher,
You're a quarrel patcher,
But you can't break my heart anymore,
For I just found someone else who's sure to take your place.
Someone I can always trust and to fill this empty space.
You're a heartbreaker,
You're a love faker,
But you can't break my heart anymore.
You're a smooth talker,
You're a real cool walker,
But now you have talked out of turn.
You're a high stepper,
You're a eye-catcher,
But you won't catch my glances anymore.
For I just found someone else who's sure to take your place,
Someone I can always trust and to fill this empty space.
You're a heartbreaker
You're a love faker,
But you can't break my heart anymore.
You're a heart breaker
You're a love faker,
A heartbreaker playing with fire.
You're a tear snatcher,
You're a quarrel patcher,
But you can't break my heart anymore.
For I've just found someone else who's sure to take your place.
Someone I can always trust and to fill this empty space.
You're a heartbreaker,
You're a love faker,
But you can't break my heart anymore.
Adam Green’s song “You’re A Heartbreaker” is a song that talks about a relationship that has ended due to one partner’s inability to love the other fully. The song confronts the idea of emotional manipulation and abuse that happens in some relationships. The lyrics are clear about the subject’s behavior while also describing how it affected the other partner.
The song opens up with the chorus that sets the tone for the rest of the song. The chorus declares that the subject is a heartbreaker and a love faker who plays with fire. This already sets the stage for a toxic relationship, where one person is manipulating the other's emotions. As it progresses, the song points out how the subject snatches tears and patches quarrels, which shows that the person likes to manipulate their partner's emotions for their own benefit. However, the song also highlights that the other partner has moved on and has found someone who will take their place. The lyrics emphasize how the new partner is trustworthy and can fill the void that the subject has left behind. In the end, the song reiterates the chorus, showing that the subject cannot break the other partner's heart anymore.
In summary, the song is a commentary on the subject’s emotionally manipulative behavior, with the lyrics highlighting how it has affected the other partner. It also talks about the process of moving on and finding a healthy relationship. The song is cleverly crafted and clearly addresses emotional manipulation in relationships, which is a topic that needs attention in today’s society.
