Fever
Adam Lambert Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

There he goes
My baby walks so slow
Sexual tic-tac-toe
Yeah, I know we both know
It isn't time
But could you be m-mine
We'll never get too far
Just you, me and the bar
Silly "menage a trois" sometimes
Would you be mine [Repeat x3]

Oh baby, lights on
But your mom's not home
I'm sick of laying down alone hey
With this fever, fever, yeah
My one and own
I wanna get you alone
Give you a fever, fever yeah

There it goes
You stole my soul and so
Cause, sweetheart
A-no-no-nobody a-no-no-knows
They're occupied
Time to be m-mine

Let's get inside your car
Just you, me and the stars
Kind of menage à trois sometimes
Would he be mine [Repeat x3]

Oh baby, lights on
But your mom's not home
I'm sick of laying down alone (ooh)
With this fever, fever, yeah
My one and own
I wanna get you alone (ooh)
Give you a fever, fever, yeah

Yeah, yeah, yeah [Repeat x7]

Oh baby, your light's on
But your mom's not home
I'm sick of laying down alone (ooh)
With this fever, fever, yeah
My one and own
I wanna get you alone (ooh)
Give you a fever, fever, yeah

(Ooh)

Give you fever fever fever yeah
Fever, fever, yeah

Overall Meaning

In the song "Fever" by Adam Lambert, the singer sings about his desire for someone he is attracted to. The song starts by describing his baby walking slowly, playing a sexual game of tic-tac-toe, and being in a silly "menage a trois" sometimes. He questions whether this person could be his, even though they may not go too far. The chorus talks about the fever he has for this person, and how he wants to be with them. He mentions that the lights are on, but their mom is not home, and he is tired of being alone with his fever. He wants to steal their soul and make them his.

The use of sexual imagery and the line "sexual tic-tac-toe" could be interpreted as a power dynamic between the two partners. The singer might be interested in a relationship that is not just physical but also involves a sense of control or domination. The chorus talks about being alone and wanting to be with someone, and the desire for something more intimate. The fever could represent both the sexual attraction and the longing for closeness.

there are artists who are good live, and then there are artists who are so good live you begin to question whether they’re actually live. this man is so talented.

@carlasantos3138

Adam Lambert is one of those singers who actually CAN sing live

@TheDragonkissed

Yes!

@ellyqueen296

@@carlasantos3138 Exactly. Most singers sound good in digitally enhanced records, and then you go to a live concert and emerge with a "meh" feeling. While Adam is able to sound just as amazing live as he does in records. A truly rare phenomenon.

@Stardust_7273

David Bowie was also in that category

I no longer question how Adam at times records a song in one take. He’s fantastic and he’s only gotten better.
Exceptional talent.

@Kingsislandforever97

I think I like this version better than the studio version. That says a lot about just how talented this man is.

@do8966

The most I like about Adam is he in fact. He is a gift from the heaven.
