Kings Of The Wild Frontier
Adam The Ants Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
A new Royal Family, a wild nobility, we are the family
A new Royal Family, a wild nobility, we are the family
I feel beneath the white
There is a redskin suffering
From centuries of taming
Just pride about our manner
Antpeople are the warriors
Antmusic is the banner!
A new Royal Family, a wild nobility, we are the family
A new Royal Family, a wild nobility, we are the family
And even when you're healthy
And your colour schemes delight
Down below those dandy clothes
You're just a shade too white
Shade too white!
Shade too white!
I feel beneath the white
There is a redskin suffering
From centuries of taming...
I feel beneath the white
There is a redskin suffering
From centuries of taming...
In the lyrics of Adam and the Ants' song "Kings Of The Wild Frontier," the repetition of "A new Royal Family, a wild nobility, we are the family" signifies a sense of unity and empowerment among a group of people who see themselves as distinct and unconventional. This declaration of a new royal family and wild nobility suggests a breakaway from traditional norms and societal expectations. It emphasizes the idea of forging one's own path and creating a sense of belonging within this group of individuals who consider themselves as a family.
The lyrics also touch upon themes of identity and cultural heritage through the lines, "I feel beneath the white, there is a redskin suffering from centuries of taming." This evokes imagery of societal pressures and expectations imposed on individuals based on their race or heritage. The reference to the "redskin suffering from centuries of taming" suggests a struggle with assimilation and conformity, highlighting the ongoing battle against societal norms that suppress one's true identity.
The mention of "Antpeople are the warriors, Antmusic is the banner" reflects a sense of pride and defiance in the face of adversity. The concept of being warriors and using music as a banner signifies a rebellious spirit and a willingness to fight for what one believes in. It symbolizes resistance against conformity and a desire to stand out and be heard.
The repetition of "Shade too white" and the reiteration of the idea of a redskin suffering beneath the white exterior further emphasize the complexities of identity and the struggles faced by individuals to break free from societal expectations and stereotypes. Overall, the lyrics of "Kings Of The Wild Frontier" convey a message of empowerment, unity, and rebellion against conformity, urging listeners to embrace their true selves and stand up against the pressures of society.

Believe it or not, AdamAnt literally inspired me as a young black kid in da hood. He was an eccentric artist to me. I was the ONLY fan in my home and amongst peers. My brothers thought I was weird because I was a huge fan. Lol The drums drums drums. Driving beats, native American undertones, African rhythms, high energy, costumes, war paint make up and overall theatrics captivated me!!! I LOVED Adam and the ANTS AND I WAS ridiculed for it...HOWEVER... "Ridicule is Nothing to be scared of"!😉
