Wishbone
Adam West Lyrics

Then I got to thinking who was gonna keep me down
You started talking and talked yourself outta breath
I had a mind to take you . . . take you out to your death
Hey hey don′t say you'll stick around for another day
Hey hey don′t say we'll work it out in another way
You kept on blabbing about everything but the girl
I pulled out a wishbone and said, "Make a wish . . . make a bet"
I got the bigger half yeah now I want you to eject away
I want away from you
The lyrics to Adam West's song "Wishbone" are about a party that the singer threw where everyone attended. However, instead of enjoying himself, the singer is preoccupied with the thought of someone trying to bring him down. The song then takes a violent turn when the singer expresses his desire to take this person out to their death. Next, the singer has everyone sit in a talk circle, but the person he wants to get rid of keeps talking about everything but the girl. The singer then pulls out a wishbone and offers to make a wish or make a bet with the other person. He ends up getting the bigger half of the wishbone and promptly ejects the person from the party.
Overall, the song seems to be about the need for control and power over others. The singer is fearful of someone taking away his power and control, and ultimately resorts to violence to maintain it. The wishbone becomes a symbol of this power struggle - the winner gets to control the other person's fate.
