Ballerina
Adam White Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Once more to life.
Know your limits boy,
Once more too high.
Complicate your words,
Clever talk won't impress me.
Suffocate your thoughts
Empty your head.
The lyrics of Adam White Feat. Martin Grech's "Ballerina" are laden with symbolism and metaphorical statements. The phrase "see in through both sides" can be interpreted in different ways. On one hand, it may suggest that the singer is asking us to see things from multiple perspectives rather than from just one angle. It emphasizes the importance of openness and critical thinking. On the other hand, it could also refer to the human ability to look beyond the surface and seek deeper meanings. The theme of duality continues in the second line, as the singer implores the listener to come back to life once again. This can mean emerging from a dark phase, finding renewed purpose, or experiencing a sense of rebirth.
The third line, "know your limits boy" may be taken as a cautionary statement urging caution before attempting to push beyond existing boundaries. "Once more too high" reinforces this idea, indicating that while it is important to aim high and strive for success, it is crucial to stay grounded and not let our ambitions take us to dangerous heights.
The second verse of the song takes a more critical tone, with the singer calling on the listener to 'complicate your words' instead of resorting to clever talk that may fall short in practice. The phrase "suffocate your thoughts, empty your head" is a call for the listener to let go of preconceptions and pre-existing ideas in order to make space for fresh perspectives.
Overall, the song's lyrics are characterized by a sense of introspection and contemplation, urging the listener to look beyond the surface and embrace change and growth.

I remember hearing this at Creamfields in August 2005 when Judge Jules dropped it. Talked about it on the tranceaddict forum and Adam White himself pm'd me on the forum asking how the track went down and how the crowd reacted. Guess he was quite proud :-)
