It was a take it or leave it kinda Saturday night
I wish I could love you till the cows come home, make it right
If it's a make believe I say it ain't, tell ya then
Cause if it's a dream I'm in please wake me up and start again

Ooo, close your eyes and what do you see
Ooo, look over how you could do with your only belief
She was a real tight manner
Lies in over navver
Hard core biloozy
Late nine t'fiver
Her second hand clothes
Smiling like a Cheshire cat

Said it was in and out and up and down the urchin moon
Baby a certain situation on a sea I'm who
Wasn't a ring around the roses pull a daisy chain
Not with your head could tell me you ain't from there and back again

Ooh close your eyes and what do you see
Ooh another but how what they dud with your only believe in me

She was a real tight manner
Lies in off a laugher
Hard core floozy
Late nine to fiver
Her second hand clothes
Smilin' like a Cheshire Cat

Give a good one, I want to be or not to be tonight
Why should I hold her down in bed when you should ride me right?
Why should you give it all you got, now mid's a make amends
Boy you'll never mind your marker and drive the bends

Ooh close your eyes and what do you see
Ooh another but look what they do with your only believe in me

She was a real tight manner
Lies in off a laugher
Hard core biloozy
Late nine to fiver
Her second hand clothes
Smilin' like a Cheshire Cat

A real time manner
Lies in off a laugher
Hard core floozy

Late nine driver
Smilin' like a Cheshire Cat

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Aerosmith's "Rock in a Hard Place" tell the story of a wild Saturday night and an elusive woman. The singer expresses his desire to love this woman, despite the fact that the situation may be uncertain or even imaginary. He asks to be woken up from the dream, only to want to start again.

The lyrics also contain descriptions of the woman in question. She is portrayed as a "real tight manner" and a "hardcore floozy" who wears second-hand clothes but still manages to smile like a Cheshire cat. The singer seems both drawn to and frustrated by her, as he struggles to understand her motivations and desires.

Overall, the song conveys a sense of excitement and recklessness, as the singer lusts after a woman who may or may not be real. The imagery is vivid and the language is dense, creating a world that is both seedy and alluring.

Dirty nasty kick ass rock. That damn Tyler had it in him. EXTREMELY under rated album. How do you not like this?

MotorCityMthrfkr

This was a great album, very overlooked, shame it doesn't get enough love, its sort of like when Black Sabbath did Never Say Die!, fantastic album but critically reviled

MAGNETO

Agree, I bought it upon release. It doesn't get enough attention but I thought it was a fantastic album. This particular song sounds like a bit of a throwback to the earlier Aerosmith period. Joey Kramer's drumming was so underrated.

diesel473

OMG what a song!!!! Love it

MotorCityMthrfkr

Great underrated album

Toyota Kawasaki

What makes you believe it's underrated? Did you travel the globe taking a survey from every citizen of the world? Please explain.

MotorCityMthrfkr

@Toyota Kawasaki it seems to be looked at as a critical failure in of reviews at the time saying it seemed untuneful and forced drummer Joey Kramer also doesn't consider it a real Aerosmith album, I hardly ever hear it mentioned or talked about, the lack of Joe Perry and Brad Witford I'm sure didn't help matters but I think Jimmy Crespo did a great job

Kevin Oshea

Badass rock from the bad boys from Boston it wasn't the best seller but it's a great Rock album

awaretenacious

3:37 gives me goosebumps.

JJRJ 85

Underrated as hell; this sounds just like the stuff the Quireboys, Extreme or Faster Pussycat would be doing 4-5 years later
