Let Me In
Affliction Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
Turn me inside out, soak me in bleach
Only so much running low and running from myself
Only so much running, and the running never helps
Running, running, running sink
When the dreamer dies, so dies the dream
Turn me inside out, soak me in bleach
I'm buried alive, life buries me
Cover my body, soak me in bleach
Soak me, soak me, soak me in bleach
Feels like I'm strapped down, feels like I'm bleeding
Don't know what to do with all of these feelings (soak me in bleach)
Only so much running low and running from myself
Only so much running, and the running never helps
When the dreamer dies, so dies the dream
Turn me inside out, soak me in bleach
Soak me, soak me, soak me in bleach
I'm buried alive, life buries me
Cover my body, soak me in bleach
Soak me, soak me, soak me in bleach
Rock
Yeah, it comes in waves, it crushes me
Yeah, it comes in waves, and it crushes me
You can't save me now 'cause I'm out of reach
When the dreamer dies, so dies the dream
Turn me inside out, soak me in bleach
Soak me, soak me, soak me in bleach
I'm buried alive, life buries me
Cover my body, soak me in bleach
Soak me, soak me, soak me in bleach
On and on and on and on
Soak me, soak me, soak me in bleach
On and on and on and on
Soak me, soak me, soak me in bleach
The lyrics of Affliction's song "Let Me In" delve into themes of internal struggle, emotional turmoil, and the feeling of being overwhelmed by one's own thoughts and emotions. The repeated phrase "When the dreamer dies, so dies the dream" could be interpreted as a metaphor for losing hope or giving up on one's aspirations. The idea of being turned inside out and soaked in bleach conveys a sense of wanting to cleanse oneself, to rid oneself of the stains and burdens of past experiences or emotions.
The imagery of running low and running from oneself suggests a constant state of avoidance or escapism, where no matter how much one tries to flee from their inner demons or conflicts, they can never truly escape. The reference to feeling strapped down and bleeding could symbolize a sense of being trapped in a painful or distressing situation, unsure of how to handle overwhelming emotions. The repetition of the phrase "soak me in bleach" throughout the song emphasizes a desire for purification or catharsis, a way to wash away the pain and anguish that one is experiencing.
The lines "Yeah, it comes in waves, it crushes me" vividly depict the feeling of being inundated by intense emotions that can feel overwhelming and suffocating. The inability to be saved or reached by others highlights a sense of isolation or feeling beyond help or redemption. The plea to be soaked in bleach repeatedly underscores a yearning for release from inner turmoil and a longing for a fresh start or a clean slate.
Overall, "Let Me In" by Affliction conveys a deep sense of internal conflict, emotional distress, and a longing for purification or renewal. The lyrics paint a poignant picture of struggling with one's inner demons, seeking solace in a turbulent sea of emotions, and ultimately yearning for a sense of catharsis and release from the burdens of the past.
