The band's second album, The In Between, was co-produced by multi-platinum producer Eric Valentine (Smash Mouth, Queens of the Stone Age, Persephone's Bees). With 9 of its 10 tracks licensed, the album is one of the most licensed independent albums of all time.
The band was featured on L.A.'s trendsetting radio station KCRW. The singles Coming Undone, Wasted Days, and Lie Awake were also added to numerous college radio stations nationwide.
In 2005, Aidan released his first solo record titled Pillows & Records on CrystalTop Music. Produced by JJ Wiesler, the record features 14 original tracks. The CD features Jim Bogios on drums (Counting Crows), Tom Ayres on guitar (Persephone's Bees), the legendary Chuck Prophet, Brett Simons on bass (Fiona Apple) and Jason Borger on keys (Highwater Rising). An early demo of the title track was used in the 2004 season of THE OC and was in final consideration for use on one of the shows popular CD compilation releases.
Innocent
Aidan Hawken Lyrics

Let is show
Let it breathe
You know you make me sick
You've got your house
Your car
A big backyard
Fall is on it's way
No more sunny days
It gets dark you know
Smoke your cigarette
Try not to forget
That you know
They make
You sick
Things never turn out
The way I want them to
But we're all
All born innocent
Take what you can
Take everything you need
But save some for me
Or save it for yourself
Write me a letter and explain
We're all born innocent
Yes we are
Your job is perfect as it was
I know you're not guilty here
You sit right down
Close your eyes, shut your mouth
Listen now
The conversation's done
So it's all down to money as it were
He was born
Born innocent
Things never turn out
The way I want them to
But we're all born
To this world
Things never turn out
The way I want them to
But we're all
All born innocent
Take what you can
Take everything you need
But save some for me
Or save it for yourself
Just save it for yourself
The lyrics to Aidan Hawken's song Innocent convey the message that even though life doesn't always turn out how we want it to, we are still inherently innocent when we are born into this world. The first verse appears to be directed at someone who frustrates or bothers the singer, as they make him feel sick, and the singer urges them to let things go and let them breathe. The line "Don't state the obvious" suggests that this person may be stating things that are already known or unnecessary, perhaps adding to the singer's annoyance.
As the song progresses, the singer reflects on the changing of the seasons and the darkening of the days, potentially symbolizing difficult times coming to the forefront. He encourages the listener to "take what you can" but to also save some for others or themselves. The repetition of the phrase "Things never turn out the way I want them to" acknowledges the challenges and disappointments we face in life.
The final verse references a letter and a conversation about money, suggesting that the person being addressed may be someone involved in a legal matter. However, the line "He was born, born innocent" reminds the listener that no matter what happens in life, we are all inherently innocent when we enter this world.
Overall, the lyrics to Innocent convey a message of innocence in the face of adversity and tough times. The singer encourages listeners to take what they need but to also be aware of others and to save some for themselves.
