Don't look back
Aihvhia Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Don't look back
I'm afraid you may see something you don't want to
And you can never go back
Don't look back
I'm afraid you may feel something you don't want to
And you can never go back

A messaged bird
Found its way from many days
It came from far outside the walls
I'll say a prayer
As I cast it to the flame
It's not my pain and it's not my fault
At least we're happy
Inside our castles and with our grounds

Don't look back
I'm afraid you may see something you don't want to
And you can never go back
Don't look back
I'm afraid you may feel something you don't want to
And you can never go back

In distant screams
"They will feed us to the trees"
I just by habit turn my head
I waste my days and my nights
I can't move, try
But cries for help aren't worth my time
I could have saved so many lives
But why would I

I'm afraid you may see something you don't want to
And you can never go back
Don't look back
I'm afraid you may feel something you don't want to
And you can never go back

At least we're happy
Right

Overall Meaning

from the start, the lyrics of Aihvhia's "Don't Look Back" convey a powerful message of regret and the inability to go back in time to fix the past. The artist warns listeners against the dangers of looking back, suggesting that they may see or feel things they want to forget or avoid. The first paragraph of the lyrics sets the tone for the entire song, highlighting the idea that once something is done, it cannot be undone.

In the second paragraph, Aihvhia introduces the theme of feeling guilty for being unable to help others in need. The "messaged bird" may represent a message or a plea for help that has gone unheard, and Aihvhia highlights the frustration of wanting to do something but feeling unable to. The lines, "I waste my days and my nights, I can't move, try, But cries for help aren't worth my time" suggest that sometimes, even when we want to help, we may feel overwhelmed and unsure of what to do. Finally, the artist reminds us that even when we are "happy" and safe in our own "castles," there is much suffering outside of our own world that cannot be ignored.

Overall, "Don't Look Back" is a poignant exploration of the idea that we cannot change the past and that sometimes, even when we want to help others, we may feel powerless to do so. The song urges us to look forward and focus on the present, while also acknowledging the pain and guilt that can come from being unable to help others.

I can't help thinking this song reminds me of the story of the first Buddha. In his youth as a prince. Living in a palace. His father would make him wear a vail. Whenever he left the walls of the grounds.
Telling him not to look upon the world. To be happy with his palace and his grounds.
For he may not like what he sees.
