Doesn't work in the EU, despite the refund time window passed long after the product is used, if said product never had the change to meet the marketing claims it is considered false advertisement or worse, fraud, which both are huge no-no in the EU. If something is too good to be true at a very affordable price is because probably it isn't that functional to begin with.

I think some of them are just a light that turns on. I keep seeing sites that are telling me that i should plant floweers and get one of thsose devices. As a "quick" solution. Growing a small garden of flowers is far from a quick solution

The only redeeming possibility I can think of is that maybe these things might dissuade pests from exploring unknown areas where the sound is present? Like if you don't have mice in your house, and you put these near possible entries, maybe they'd keep them out? Obviously when they show up in areas the pests are already comfortable, they don't even think twice about the sound (if there even is one).

I gave one to my dad once. It had great effect, meaning that he went from catching one to three mice a day to about 20 a day. After shutting it off, then the number went down to normal almost immediately. Most was caught next to the thing. So, we concluded that it worked, but it would be better, if it was installed at the neighbors house instead.

I find your mousetrap collection so interesting! I think it would be cool to set out all your live trap mousetraps in one area and then maybe in another barn put all your deadly mousetraps and see which barn catches the most mice/rats!

These devices have been around ever since I was a kid in the 70's. My dad tried them and he figured out then they were a scam. I thought by now it was widely known they didn't work. I guess it's true, a sucker is born every minute. 🐀🐁🐭🐀

Apparently it only makes them more active and run around more, but they don't run away from the noise. Hense why you will see them more often because they are just more active with the device switched on.

@punker 4 real yes I have used that for yrs works great on ants really all bugs except knats and it must be food grade diatomaceous earth from the feed store it's less than a dollar a pound at the local feed store we don't have roaches in the mountains as per altitude but I imagine it would work for them too and it's a hundred percent natural I wish it worked w mice

Killing roaches is only half the battle... you gotta stop them from managing to reproduce before you kill them. Baits and diatomaceous earth helps a little in that they may bring it back to the nest to eat, thus spreading around death, but to comprehensively kill an infestation you need to also have an insect growth regulator (e.g. Gentrol) applied. That will (1) prevent them from molting, meaning you will increasingly just have tiny baby roaches that never grow, and (2) they will never be able to reach sexual maturity, effectively sterilizing the entire nest. Now, that takes some time to take hold and you may still have to deal with several generations of roaches before the effect becomes noticable... but that's where the killing part of control helps.

If you spray even the Gold bengal roach spray the roach just thinks your giving it a refreshing shower. The product does what its suppose to do just doesn't kill them on contact by any means.

They do work on certain species of dangerous pests. I live in a large city in the USA. Years ago I was concerned that Tigers or Lions might infiltrate my backyard. I bought several ultrasound devices similar to the ones you used on your video. For years no Tigers or Lions in my yard, they really work. Like your videos, keep them going.

I can hear these things from the outside of people's houses when i walk down the street. I have really sensitive hearing and can hear the high pitch whine from CRT screens and so on as well as hearing it in this video (it definitely does make a sound at least), but these things give me a terrible headache. My parents got one when i was l living at home and I immediately told them to get rid of out because it gave me migraines.

Hello Shawn, Greetings again from North Michigan. You are correct, these contraptions do not work on an existing populations of Rodents. However, let me share with you my experience. My existing cabin was infested with mice. Took me 10 years and hundreds of traps, poison, clearing and keeping debris such leaves, long grass, shrubs away from the cabin. No food ever left out, and kept the acorns raked as they fall. Still I catch 70 to 80 Mice a year in my old Cabin. I built a small new cabin 5 years ago 200 foot away from the old one. I equiped it with 4 Black and Decker ultrasonic pest repellers. After 5 years, I have no sign of mice and I keep my traps freshly baited with Peanut Butter in both Cabins. Old cabin 62 mice this year to date, 10/30/19. New cabin zero mice to date. BTW My old cabin was built in 1992, the new cabin 2014. Same construction. Just my Observation. Love your videos, keep em coming.

I bought one years ago. Mine was "designed" to keep away bugs of all sorts. After it was up for a few days an ant colony made a home in it. To be fair, every time the sonar went off a near by spider moved around, seeming as if it were uncomfortable.

The best system I've found to keep rats and mice out of my roof space is a Xenon strobe light. They cannot stand the continuous photo flash brightness of light. I also found an old xenon amber vehicle safety light at the local junk shop that I fitted in my workshop ceiling crawl space, and no more rats or mice there now. They used to nest on the warm fluorescent light troughs, but none now in 18 months using the strobe, which still runs non stop. It is only effective where you don't have light, but that's frequently where they cause problems too.
It also works on other nocturnal creatures like possums.

@Eddie I since upgraded them to LED strobes which consume between 1-3 watts (depending on flash rate), at current electricity charges it adds up to about $4 per year to have two running (measured with a killawatt power meter)
The xenon strobes ran about the same energy level but they seemed to lose intensity over time.

In an old apartment I lived in 6 or so years ago i had a terrible roach problem, and in my desperation I paid a lot of money on an ultrasonic device that claimed to repel roaches. It didn't do a damn thing though, and the roaches were perfectly happy making a home in the space between the ultrasonic "insect repeller" and the wall.

I bought 4 boxes of snap-traps and they each came with one of those as a "bonus"

As a goof I plugged all four into a power strip and set it by the mouse hole. They walked right by it and got caught in the traps.

This was also when I looked up traps on YouTube and found this channel 👍

They do work, if you can find the right ones. I remember in a house I used to live in we had these giant ants that would be in the kitchen but we rarely seen them. After plugging one of these into the wall we started to see much more ants out running around and about a week or 2 after they were gone.

For what it's worth, I got one for spiders and I "feel" as if though it's working. I used to have spiders in my room all the time.
I have issues with spiders. so I installed one under my bed and ever since I at least haven't ~~seen~~ any spiders in my room, except one the other day but compared to several a week. to only once in about a year, I would say it was worth it.

Your mileage may vary ofcourse. I can only assume it's a simple cashgrab to make them for cheap with varying or no effect depending on frequencies or if they even botther to actually emit a sound at all!

My folks have one of those pest repel things, didn't do squat for the mice in the kitchen, but they do seem to help keep down the amount of flies and sugar ants. Good old fashion kill traps are the best way to keep those disease carrying pests at bay.

I had a pest reject for about 4 years thinking that it was doing the trick because I placed mine in my basement bedroom and I never saw more than 1 spider unless it was near the time of the year that we would get the yearly house sprayed. That is, until recently. I was gone for 3 days and came back 2 have 1 spider after another after another. I've killed 5 basement spiders in this past week alone. (My room wasn't sprayed well at ALL the last two times thanks 2 my mom)
The last straw was killing 2 spiders literally right over the outlet that had the pest reject plugged in. I know this has only been on for 2 years, but I wish I hadn't bought a 6 pk.

Yes it does work! You just have to remove the 2 wires from the ultrasonic speaker and connect them to a small copper plate. Mouse steps on it and it’s over.

Of course, I'm sure the manufacturer would just claim that you had a defective product and didn't "prove" anything.

It would be interesting to set up a few ultrasonic transducers and drive them with an oscillator and vary the frequency yourself to see if you could produce any repellent effect.

My neighbor has a big one of these exactly for that reason. These things are very effective at making dogs avoid the area. Probably a different story if what it's guarding is a bowl of food versus a grass lawn though.

khaz606 - electro-magnetic type = these feed an electro-magnetic frequency into the neutral wire, causing it to emit the frequency and apparently the pests can sense this and be repelled by it, I think Shawn has already tested that type and it had failed 😆

I'm pretty conflicted after watching this video. I bought some of these because of insects, not rodents. I installed one in my backyard which would get spiders all over, and after installing it, I have not seen a spider since. Also installed one indoors as I'd get roaches from time to time, and the roaches have vanished. It could be coincidence, the season, or the product, now I'm not so sure lol. I was convinced the product worked, but like I said, I used it for insects... So now I'm confused :shrugs:

I must say that I have the exact same situation here. I mean, I'm skeptical even though it's kinda working for bugs for the last couple of weeks, but the fundaments of how and why it would work seems tricky.

I've never bought any sound based pest control devices. I'd rather kill with traps and gas than just annoy the pest and send them to my neighbor, just seems rude.

This assumes they even work.

My husband ( EX. ) bought a similar device ( P.O.S.) 40 yrs ago. I had a pet rat, cat & dog... It didn't even faze them ! It & my Ex. went out the door. :) Love the videos & pass on your advice !!

If I remember correctly, it Is possible to actually make an ultrasonic pest repellant that actually works, but it's hard to get a frequency that works, and I'm pretty sure that there's no magic frequency that repels everything from insects to mice. I had an aunt who used an ultrasonic repellant she made that did keep mice out, but it also drove her bunny insane and i don't think affected insects

The one I bought was the only thing that stopped mice from building nests in my motorcycle over winter. I think it was Victor brand. I tried mothballs, peppermint oil and a few other things. Victor Pest Chaser Pro.

I've been telling my dad for years that ultrasonic pest repellers don't work. But he still plugs them in. Hopefully now he'll be convinced when he sees this.

well, mice vocalize in ultrasonic, so it might be that. I wonder if it works on cats though, since in my neighborhood people use it to stop cats from shitting in the yard.

My roommate and I live in a very tidy apartment, but one day she saw a roach and flipped out. She has a very severe phobia of them, and I don't have the heart to tell her those supersonic bs plugins don't work. I'm just letting them stay, they don't bother me and it gives her the false security she needs to function.

Thanks to you, am about to apply for a FULL refund of the 6-pack "Pest Respect" I had delivered to me on Friday afternoon (Jan 10th).
Although anytime I had a power outage with these toys plugged to to the wall, the bugs try to hug my laptop lights but as soon as power is restored, me get no disturbance.
But as I said earlier, I better get me a refund quick before I end up sorry.
EDIT: Did anyone notice the two rats waltzing at 2:09 to 2:11? It's quite laughable but a damning evidence against the manufacturers of this products (who am I kidding? This is China am talking about (where ANYTHING CAN BE MADE OR SOLD without legal repercussions)).

I have an PIR repellent to keep cats out, and an ultasonic dog bark supressor, they both seem to do the job. I just went for the ones with the best reviews, the cat one I bought from Aldi's store.

I remember my Dad got one of these, and the second he turned it on, a giant wolf spider ran out from under the closest cabinet. We used to get loads of wolf spiders around the house, now we get significantly less. I don't know what brand they are though.
