His mother named him Albano because, when he was born, his father was fighting in Albania for the Italian Army during World War II.
He made his debute in 1966 both as a singer, at the Festival delle Rose, and on television. He won the Disco per l'Estate, an Italian song contest, with "Pensando a te" in 1968. He recorded some major hits such as "La siepe" and "Nel sole" at that time.
He married Romina Power (daughter of the American actor Tyrone Power), the woman who had already started to share her musical career with him, on July 26, 1970.
Al Bano returned to his solo career in 1996 with È la mia vita which was followed by Verso il sole in 1997 and Ancora in volo in 1999.

hai messo in musica e soprattutto in parole la mia vita, non mi stancherò mai di ascoltare questa lirica, questo inno alla vita, grazie .... ogni volta che l'ascolto mi vengono le lacrime silenziose nell'anima poichè non so più piangere fisicamente, ho 70 anni e ancora poco tempo da trascorrere ma questa canzone mi fa capire che inutile rimpiangere ciò che non si è voluto o potuto fare, vivere giorno dopo giorno con i propri ricordi belli o brutti non ha importanza ma VIVERE ... grazie Albano ♥

Ho 15 anni e credetemi che se al giorno d'oggi i miei amici mi sentono ad ascoltare sta musica mi prendono in giro ma non hanno capito che questa è vera musica e questi sono veri cantanti

Se posso permettermi, tu sei molto più maturo dei tuoi amici, non ti curare di quello che pensano. Io ho 21 anni e anch'io adoro questa canzone e sono sempre stato considerato strano perché più maturo della mia età, ma alla fine ne vale la pena.
