Love on the Radio
Alabaster Box Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

in the morning i'll turn it on listen to my favourite song
and sometimes when life feels no good
something happens and maybe this could be perfect love

CHORUS
and i'll sing along to my favourite song but i wont find love on the radio
and it comforts me when im on my knees but i wont find love on the radio
technology has got me now perfect people bring me down
comparing life to movie stars
have we gone a little far to find a perfect love

CHORUS

radio cant find love on the radio
wondering what this world is made of the answer's living in love

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Alabaster Box's "Love on the Radio" convey a sense of yearning for a type of love that cannot simply be obtained from the media or through technological means. The song begins with the singer turning on their favorite song in the morning, which brings comfort during times when life does not feel good. However, they come to the realization that even though music can be a source of solace in difficult times, it cannot fulfill their desire for true love. The singer acknowledges that perhaps they have become too fixated on the idea of finding a "perfect love" and have been influenced by society's emphasis on perfection and comparison to movie stars.

The chorus emphasizes that although music and technology may provide temporary relief or distraction, love cannot be found solely through these means. True love requires more than just listening to a song or scrolling through social media. The second verse suggests that the constant exposure to technological advancements and social media have created unrealistic expectations and perfect people that can bring one down. This highlights the danger of constantly comparing oneself and one's relationships to that of others on social media, leading to dissatisfaction and disillusionment.

Overall, the lyrics to "Love on the Radio" carry a message of the importance of reflecting on one's values and desires in relationships, and not getting lost in the superficiality of technology and media. The song urges listeners to prioritize true love that is rooted in genuine connection and not solely based on external factors or appearances.

I was sorting out old stuff to keep or toss and found an autographed copy of the CD of this song but I have never heard of this band much less seen them. Have absolutely no idea where the CD came from. Not complaining, just a bit perplexed. Good song though.
