More Lost Without You
Alan Parsons Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

There's not a day
I don't think of your name
The state that I'm in
You're completely to blame
No words left to say
Turn my dreams all to grey
And I'm more and more lost without you
You're a storm in my head
That really blew a new day
A liquid design
Is what you do to my mind
No words left to say
Cause my mind's gone away
And I'm more and more lost without you

More and more lost without you
I was found but then I totally lost you
Don't know a soul that could ever doubt you
That's why I'm more and more lost without you

More and more

Overall Meaning

These lyrics from Alan Parsons's song "More Lost Without You" speak to the overwhelming feeling of loneliness and despair that follows the loss of a loved one. The singer in the song is haunted by memories and thoughts of the person who is no longer with them, and they struggle to find meaning or purpose in their life without them.

The opening lines set the tone for the rest of the song, as the singer admits that they can't go a day without thinking of the person they've lost. They describe the state they're in as a direct result of this loss, and they recognize that they hold the person responsible for their current state of mind. The line "No words left to say/Turn my dreams all to grey" reflects the singer's sense of hopelessness, as they confront the fact that they are unable to express how they feel.

The chorus of the song further emphasizes the singer's sense of loss, as they describe themselves as being "more and more lost without you." The metaphor of the person being a "storm in [their] head" and a "liquid design" that affects their mind speaks to the power that this person held in the singer's life. Ultimately, the singer is left feeling alone and defeated without them.

@vaspers

This is perfect music forever. Alan Parsons was a genius, like just about every progrock that ever existed.

Much better live... even the "Live in Madrid" is excellent. I saw APP at Memorial Hall in KCK back in '95 with KANSAS... and again in St. Louis in '96... same tour- Their First Ever Tour... soooo good.

I can Imagine Joe Walsh singing More Lost without you...

@SpiralPegasus

Over a decade without any new albums from Alan...

Hearing this again after quite a few years though, reduces my yearning quite a bit. Even though this was this disk's "radio single", it certainly is not "The Traveller" or "Prime Time"...

+SpiralPegasus whatever they are very underrated I'm guessing

@FrancoSablic

The Traveler? Prime Time I can understand. That was a masterpiece. But, The Traveler?

@worldwalker2709

It sounds like something from Genesis's "Calling All Stations"
