Spoken:
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha
We're gonna try it one mo' time
The new, Cross Cut Saw
Comin' at you, hot an' heavy
Watch this!
Got a hell-uva groove to it, too!
Hey brother, aah!

I'm a cross cut saw
Just drag me across your log
I'm a cross cut saw
Just drag me across your log
I'll cut your wood so easy for you
You can't help but say 'Hot dog!'

Some call me 'Wood-Choppin Sam'
Some call me 'Wood-Cuttin Bill'
Last girl I cut the wood for
Want me back again

I'm a cross-cut saw
Just drag me across your log
I'll cut your wood so easy for you
You can't help me say, 'Hot dog')

Now dig this!

Yeah

Got a double-bladed ax
That's really cuttin' good
I'm a crosscut saw
Bury me in the wood

I'm a crosscut saw
Just drag me across the log
I'll cut your wood so easy for you

You can't help but say, 'Hot Dog'

Dig this!

Yeah!
Well, alright

Spoken:
Hey, Mike!
Oh, Mike
Let's do it like we did in 1965
In that one little room, on the other side of the buildin'
We did Crosscut Saw
It went somethin' like this
And it had a hell-uva groove to it
(In that little room with no air conditioner over there)
Funk-aay, but gettin' on down
Heavy stuff!
Ha-ha-ha

Watch this!

(Bass player)
Oooo-wee!
Ooo-UH!
I could feel that m'self

Wait a minute!
Let's take it from the top, one more time
Do ya'all wanna go to the top one more time?

I can't hear ya
Do you want it from the top, one more time?

We're goin' all the way to the top
And come down with a hell-uva groove
Ah, I might get out there and do the Boogie Woogie, myself
It's gon' be sho' nuff funky!

Bandmember says:
('Watch this, man!')

ooh-uh

Overall Meaning

The song "Cross Cut Saw" by Albert King with Stevie Ray Vaughan is a classic blues number that is filled with high energy and heavy grooves. The lyrics describe how the singer is like a cross-cut saw, capable of cutting through wood with ease. The song begins with a spoken introduction that sets the tone for what is to come. The singer then launches into the first verse, telling the listener that he is like a cross-cut saw and that he can make cutting wood look easy. The chorus of the song repeats these lines, driving home the point that the singer is a force to be reckoned with.

The middle section of the song features a spoken interlude where the bandmembers encourage each other to keep playing with intensity. The song then returns to the main groove, with the singer once again repeating the chorus. The track ends with a final exclamation from the band, demonstrating their enthusiasm for the hard-driving blues they have just performed.

Anything that that slides out of Stevie Ray Vaughans lips is golden..and from his guitar cords and strings..sensational to the EARS..you with me? Performance is upward and beyond .

Those Albert King style double string bends sound amazing on the middle strat pickup😍

Stevie's double stops are just disgusting....so much life on that vibrato, my God, it's beautiful.

Amazing and thank you for sharing. I never heard this song before.SRV is GOAT

Ron Sullivan

I saw Albert live back in '68-'70 at the Fillmore West in SF maybe ten times as either second or opening the bill there, Bill Graham booked him pretty often back then. Agree strongly with the comment downthread about Albert's double bends being incredible, and SRV absolutely NAILS him, IMHO, having seen Albert do them live! L' homage!

Stevie Ray is the guitar God period.

Bryan Dickens

SRV is a musical ability freak of nature. Only he can cover so many of the legends songs and not only do a good job, he actually adds an intensity to pretty much any iconic song he does. The guitarist in the devils band in hell may be Steve Vai, but Stevie Ray is the lead guitarist in God's band in heaven. He is like higher deity musician. When your playing makes Clapton pull over his car the first time he hears it because he can't believe what he hears and that someone is that fuckin good, and that he knew whoever it is was much better than him.... And people always referred to Clapton as "God", but yet thier god worships another... That really says something.

Mike Moore

MR. DICKENS. #1 HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN ABOUT MR .ERIC CLAPTON. HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN ABOUT DERECK . TRUCKS ? STEVE VAI.. OH I FORGOT. JAMES MARSHALL HENDRIX! REAVLIUATE.
