three
Alec Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She packed her bags and she headed for the sunshine
Alcohol and blue skies were sure as hell to come
She told me she’s sorry, I said everything’s fine
But dear god it sure doesn’t feel right
Cause I’ve still got her number in my little black notebook
And I’ve still got her on my mind
It’s been 82 days and counting
It’s 3/21 and 10 o’clock at night
And I can’t help but wonder
Wonder if you’re alright
Cause I’m well, but I miss you
And I’m guessing that you feel the same way too
Sleeping alone tonight
So close your eyes
And dream, as long as your dreams don’t haunt you
Count down the hours till you can say goodnight
And when your life flashes before your closed eyes
Well I’m sure that I’ll be with you tonight
Cause I’ve still got your number in my little black notebook
And I’ve still got you on my mind
It’s been 82 days and counting
It’s 3/21 and 10 o’clock at night
And I can’t help but wonder
Wonder if you’re alright
Cause I’m well, but I miss you
And I’m guessing that you feel the same way too
Sleeping alone tonight
So close your eyes
It’s all coming to a boil
I’ve gotta get my mind to settle down
Cause our plans have been foiled
But they’re plans that she’ll never find out
But I’ve still got your number in my little black notebook
And I’ve still got you on my mind
It’s been 82 days and counting
It’s 3/21 and 10 o’clock at night
And I can’t help but wonder
Wonder if you’re alright
Cause I’m well, but I miss you
And I’m guessing that you feel the same way too
Sleeping alone tonight
82 days and counting
It’s 3/21 and 10 o’clock at night
And I can’t help but wonder
Wonder if you’re alright
Cause I’m well, but I miss you
And I’m guessing that you feel the same way too
Sleeping alone tonight

So close your eyes
Close your eyes

Overall Meaning

The song "Three" by Alec touches upon the feeling of missing someone after they have left. The opening lines describe the girl leaving for a place in the sun with alcohol and blue skies. Despite her saying that she is sorry for leaving, the singer still has her number in his little black notebook and she is still on his mind. The lyrics repeatedly mention that it has been 82 days and counting, as if the passage of time is only making the missing worse.

The second verse of the song talks more about the singer's emotions and how they are trying to deal with the feeling of missing the girl. They suggest that the girl might be missing the singer too, and the two are both sleeping alone. The song ends with the repetition of the refrain of sorts, with the singer hoping that the girl is okay and asking her to close her eyes and dream without any haunting thoughts.

Overall, "Three" portrays the feeling of longing and missing someone who has left, and the internal struggle of trying to deal with those feelings. It also touches upon the idea of time passing and feeling stuck in those feelings.

It's nice of him to say he completely trusts armorer but he forgot to mention Gutierrez-Reed wasn't present during those camera tests. Which leads to the series of failures which lead to the accident:
- there shouldn't be any (live) gun on the set as she should keep it locked in safety
- assistant director shouldn't give (live) gun to Baldwin as he had no right to do so
- Halyna shouldn't tell him to point the gun at her and pull the hammer up and down
- assistant director Hall shouldn't be the one who is giving the actor (live) gun, he didn't check it
- director on the set should have not allowed such carelessness
- Baldwin should have checked the gun himself prior to taking it (and not blindly trust anyone when the armorer wasn't around)
- they shouldn't use the very same pistol to shoot cans during lunch-time before as casual activity
Baldwin probably doesn't want to harm his production and blame his crew but the fact is whole production was highly unprofessional and following by accidental gun discharge before they were asking for it. Gutierrez-Reed is responsible as she was paid exactly for such thing to not happen.

@Sandra Ferreira You are completely incorrect in both law and self responsibility.

He's busted lying right now and here's how it works.
He explained how a dummy round requires you to physically move your hand in order to mimic the "kick" a live round produces. Therefore, he knows that a dummy round produces no "kick".
Why did he think she fainted after he felt the "kick" of the gun sitting in his hands?

He's worked for 40 years on movie sets but claims he's never heard the phrase armorer before.....

He said he didn't know 2 people were shot until the officer had showed him a picture of the bullet.....
So what he's saying is the medics on sight that originally stabilized both shot people......didn't see bullet holes or blood.....didn't tell anyone else what happened...... etc etc

The District Attorney of New Mexico is probably gonna rip this interview to shreds.
For one, a technical term would be "diluting the jury pool"......before trial commences and jury selection.

The mere fact of pushing these lies publicly makes Alec Baldwin and ABC responsible for tampering with the judicial process.

Don't get me wrong....There's more than likely gonna be multiple people on trial for this situation...It's not just Alec Baldwin's fault......But he killed someone with a gun...Plain and simple

@Oleg Vasilchenko
Are you aware several set workers walked off the set and quit citing “unsafe working conditions” as the reason that morning ?

That in at least one of the lawsuits already filed other witnesses stated that antique REAL GUN that was used had been used for target practice the night or weekend before by Baldwin and others , with live ammunition ? With alcohol use by many ?

Really people READ A. FEW THINGS. before commenting.

Dean Cain and other actors have come forward and shown the Screen Actor’s Guild own PROTOCOL for actors and everyone’s responsibility step by step . For on set use in every scenarios. No ONE NO ONE including Baldwin followed those procedures.
In an interview GEORGE CLOONEY discussed this particular shooting.
Stated he had handled weapons and prop guns in movies many times. Stated specifically the term “cold gun” is NEVER USED. He had never hear it it before !
Baldwin is trying to set up a public defense. He is also lying. As producer and actor he is culpable and did not follow the industry standards.

Bro, I'm a truck driver.

I would not be given anywhere near this much leniency if I caused an accident that killed someone.

I just took the truck to the mechanic. He told me that it was fine to drive. I have no idea how my trailer detached going 70 on the freeway.

Me and the car in front of me both had one thing in common. The belief that my brakes worked.

Sure, other truck drivers claim they always check to make sure their wheels aren't going to fly off, but that doesn't help my situation. They just had to add something.

How many trucks have driven through rush hour traffic? Millions. I don't know what that has to do with the mile of carnage I just caused by texting while driving, but it sounds good, doesn't it?

Of course I don't merge when there's a motorcycle there. Unless he flashes his brights at me, which is what happened. He flashed them, so I just merged real quick and decapitated him.

I was just there, in shock for 45 minutes. I had just come down a steep mountain grade going 180 miles an hour, weighing over 100 tons, because who weighs their load, am I right? I barreled through perhaps 400 cars before finally coming to a stop, got out and walked around for 45 minutes. The police informed me that yes, thousands of people died. That's when I called my wife. My family and I are great. We have a great time. Those people? None of them have fathers, mothers, brothers or sisters now. There's nothing I can do to bring them back. Did I mention I never hit the gas pedal? That's important. I dont even know how I got up to that speed.

If you think what I just said is ridiculous, then you understand why negligence to this degree is unacceptable.

All I can say is the grace her husband showed Alec Baldwin after this incident is truly inspiring.

Not anymore. Especially after this interview

@Gibby absolutely!

@Lommy so do I. He needs to be held accountable and seems to have issues owning up to this.

oh yes so true. the only person who matters now is the boy who lost his mother. BAldwin is an adult and he can handle this situation to the end. A 9 yr old boy is not equipped for this and years of therapy will only lessen the paid but it can never be eliminated.

@Monique Geritz What the hell are “a lot more dangerous guns”? Please explain because that puzzled me. Seeing as the supposedly less dangerous gun here is the one responsible for a death.

If you were handed a gun and told it wasn’t loaded and it was safe, would you then point it at someone and pull the trigger? Or would you exercise some common sense and do the opposite of that?

Do I think Alec meant to kill Halyna? No. Does someone need to be held liable for the death of a young woman and mother due to negligence? Absolutely.

@OriginalNightshade revolvers don’t have firing pins.
