Cuéntame
Alejandro Filio Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Cuntame
El viejo cuento de tu fe,
Las tantas cosas que aprendiste
Aquella vez.
Cuntame
Las que te duelen, las que siempre doleran,
Las que no entienden, las que no dejan volar
Las dueas de esta voz y el mar.
De tanto cuento y de cantar
No s si voy por donde vas,
No s si estoy para contar
Para contarte alguna mas.
Cuntame
Lo que esperabas, lo que nunca sucedi,
Tu tierra firme, tu cimiento, tu motor
Tu apuesta al porvenir, tu amor.
Cuntame
Cuando supiste del calor, de la humedad,
Cuando te armaste o desarmaste a la verdad,
Despus de imaginar.
Cuntame
Lo que no deja que te arrimes hasta el sol

De la balanza favorable a la razn,
A toda razn.

Overall Meaning

In Alejandro Filio's song Cuentame, he is asking someone to tell him their story, to share with him the old tale of their faith and what they learned from it. He wants to hear about the things that hurt them and will always hurt them, the things that they don't understand and that prevent them from soaring high, just like the voice of the sea cannot soar high. Filio sings about how he is not sure if he is following the same path as the person he is asking to tell him their story, and he wonders if he is even capable of telling his own story, let alone hearing someone else's. He then asks about what the person was hoping for, what never happened, their solid ground, their foundation, their motivation, and their deep love.

He encourages the person to tell him when they first experienced warmth and humidity, and when they had to confront or accept the truth. Filio emphasizes the importance of sharing everything, even the things that hold the person back from reaching their full potential, and the things that seem like they are against reason. By asking someone to share their story, Filio is providing a safe and supportive space for healing, reflection, and growth. He is showing empathy and a desire to connect with others on a deeper level.
