Musical Success
Day's first two albums, Parrot Stories (2009) and The World Is Mine (I Don't Know Anything) (2010) received marginal success, although mostly contained in Day's YouTube audience.
His 2011 winter single "Forever Yours" sold a hundred thousand copies worldwide in one week without any record label support or major radio airplay, landing on the UK Official Chart at #4 on Christmas Day. "Forever Yours" sales beat out singles by artists such as Coldplay, Rihanna, and Katy Perry.
Day’s follow-up single "Lady Godiva" in April 2012 was released amidst sold-out signing appearances in stores around the country (over a thousand at HMV’s Edinburgh store alone). The song made the UK Top 20 and charted in fifteen other countries including Australia, New Zealand, Canada, America, Sweden, Norway, Spain and reached number 1 in Slovenia.
In May 2012, Day released three more singles; "Good Morning Sunshine", "She Walks Right Through Me", and "This Kiss" on a single day, selling nearly 150,000 copies. Along with "Forever Yours," "Lady Godiva," and several other tracks, Day's third album Epigrams and Interludes was released in March 2013.
Day has also released songs with the bands Chameleon Circuit and Sons of Admirals.

And I thought about the stupid things we said the night before
There were so many words I had to say
So I wrote 'till I just couldn't write no more
I knew that come tomorrow, I'd be leaving
And I didn't want to bring it up because I'd miss you all
There were so many things I could regret
Here comes another night of trying to forget what I won't remember
And I can't move forward 'till I push you back
I won't stop 'till I make it back to you
But I need time to find out what I want from you
And when I clear these voices in my head
I'll hear what you've been saying and we'll sleep under the stars
I'm told that people like to call us dreamers
Because we won't ever stop until we've done all we can do
There are so many things I haven't seen
So I'll look 'till I just can't look no more
And if I told you everything I wanted
Would you close your eyes or look away or say you didn't hear
There are so many things I need from you
So I'll sing 'till I just can't sing no more
I won't stop 'till I make it back to you
But I need time to find out what I want from you
And when I clear these voices in my head
I'll hear what you've been saying and we'll sleep under the stars
Sat under this tree with you, the rain is on our faces
And I can't think of a single place where I would rather be
Don't forget, if you ever need me, I'm only a vodka away from you
Don't forget there's nothing you could say,
Nothing you can say that's any use to me
Don't forget, if you ever need me, I'm only a vodka away from you
Don't forget there's nothing you could say,
Nothing you can say that's any use to me
The song No More by Alex Day is a reflective and emotional ballad that showcases the singer's contemplative nature. The song kicks off with the singer musing about his time in Glasgow, pondering the stupid things he might have said the night before. He feels the need to express his emotions and thoughts, which he puts down in writing until he reaches a point where he just can't write anymore. The next verse sees the singer coming to terms with the fact that he has to leave Glasgow, and he doesn't want to bring it up with those he would miss. To try and make sense of his feelings, he spends time thinking until he reaches his breaking point.
The chorus features the singer talking about the struggle to move on from memories and the need to push away those who trigger them. He admits to wanting to make his way back to the one he misses but acknowledges that this would take time to figure out. Once he clears his head of the multitude of voices, he'll be able to hear what the other person has been saying, and they would have their moment of togetherness.
The bridge is a romantic moment where the singer is comfortable being caught in the rain and would rather be nowhere else than with the person he enjoys spending time with. The song ends with a repetitive set of lyrics that suggest the singer is always available for the one he pines for.
Line by Line Meaning
I watched the city lights go up in Glasgow
I saw the illumination of the city in Scotland
And I thought about the stupid things we said the night before
I considered the foolish words exchanged between us the previous night
There were so many words I had to say
Numerous feelings and thoughts permeated my mind
So I wrote 'till I just couldn't write no more
I penned these emotions down as they overflowed inside me
I knew that come tomorrow, I'd be leaving
I was aware that I would depart the next day
And I didn't want to bring it up because I'd miss you all
I chose not to discuss it, as I would feel sorrowful for leaving you
So I'll think 'till I just can't think no more
I'll ponder and evaluate until I cannot hold more thoughts
Here comes another night of trying to forget what I won't remember
It's another evening of attempting to forget what I don't want to recall
And I can't move forward 'till I push you back
I can't progress unless I distance myself from you
I won't stop 'till I make it back to you
I'll never quit until I come back to you
But I need time to find out what I want from you
I require time to fathom what I desire from you
And when I clear these voices in my head
When I quiet the conflicting thoughts churning inside me
I'll hear what you've been saying and we'll sleep under the stars
Then I'll listen to what you've communicated, and we'll slumber under the night sky
I'm told that people like to call us dreamers
I've heard that individuals label us as idealistic
Because we won't ever stop until we've done all we can do
Because we're persistent and determined to do everything within our capability
There are so many things I haven't seen
Many experiences are yet to be met by me
So I'll look 'till I just can't look no more
So I'll keep searching until I no longer have the strength for it
And if I told you everything I wanted
And if I expressed everything I craved
Would you close your eyes or look away or say you didn't hear
Would you avert your gaze, choose not to listen, or disregard my words?
There are so many things I need from you
Numerous things are necessary from you
So I'll sing 'till I just can't sing no more
So I'll keep harmonizing until I can no longer vocalize
Sat under this tree with you, the rain is on our faces
Sitting under this tree with you, the rain pours down on our visages
And I can't think of a single place where I would rather be
I cannot contemplate any place other than where I currently am that I'd prefer to be
Don't forget, if you ever need me, I'm only a vodka away from you
Remember, if you require my assistance, I'm just a vodka distance away from you
Don't forget there's nothing you could say,
Remember that nothing you say
Nothing you can say that's any use to me
Could be useful to me
Don't forget, if you ever need me, I'm only a vodka away from you
Once again, remember that I'm always here for you and only a drink away
Don't forget there's nothing you could say,
Not to forget, nothing can be done by saying anything
Nothing you can say that's any use to me
Whatever you speak won't help me or the situation
