Waiting for the Sun
Alex M.O.R.P.H. Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Cold sweats, I always say I’m sober
No regrets until the day it’s over
When I’m sad they always put the dose up
I used to push friends away when they got closer
Half my life I considered myself trash
I didn’t have this
I didn’t have that
I never ever had a real dad
Except for the day I od’d on the couch

Sunny days
Wait for the rain
Rocking shades
Try to hide the pain
Medicate until I fade away
I’m gonna go even though you want me to stay
(Stay)
You want me to stay
(Stay)
You want me to stay
(Stay)
You want me to stay
(Stay)

I focus on the pain
It never seems to help
O.P. on my face since like the other day
You told me to behave
But you do you and I’ll do myself

I said I focus on the pain
It never seems to help
O.P. on my face since like the other day
I’m starting to change
So you do you and I’ll do myself

Sunny days
Wait for the rain
Rocking shades
Try to hide the pain
Medicate until I fade away
I’m gonna go even though you want me to stay

Sunny days
Wait for the rain
Rocking shades
Try to hide the pain
Medicate until I fade away
I’m gonna go even though you want me to stay
(Stay)
You want me to stay
(Stay)
You want me to stay
(Stay)

You want me to stay
(Stay)

Overall Meaning

In "Waiting for the Sun," Alex M.O.R.P.H. talks about a life that is characterized by pain and attempts to escape it through drugs. The first stanza is about the singer's history and experiences of using substances to numb their pain, even when they do not want to. They have never had a supportive parent figure and always considered themselves trash. This feeling could be what drove them towards addiction in the first place. The second stanza highlights how the singer is aware of their addiction and knows that it is something they need to address. The line "I'm starting to change" indicates that they are trying to take control of their life and change their behavior. However, the individual recognizes that change is difficult, and they continue to struggle with substance abuse.

The chorus of the song is an expression of the singer's desire to retreat into themselves and their addiction. They say that they will leave, even when someone is pleading with them to stay. In the line "rocking shades, try to hide the pain," they acknowledge that their attempts to hide their anguish are not always successful. Medication is the only way they know how to escape their pain, but it always ends in them fading away. The repeated line "you want me to stay" in the chorus may represent the people around the individual who want them to recover, but they are not yet ready to face their pain.

You are the one who fills me up with colours,
Who burns the sky for me,
Boy, don’t you see,
Sun shines brighter when you are near…

But it’s like no one else on the earth,
Your smile, your touch, your lips,
The hopes I was thinking in,
Your love was given me…

To the heaven…

@ashwinchakilum8468

Good guy Alex M.O.R.P.H.
Doesn't give in to the big room EDM fad and instead sticks to what he's best at, producing classic, uplifting Trance music.
Are there really so many people disliking this? If you seriously prefer big room house over this, then you truly have low standards for music.

@Hlemguard

Never doubt uncle Alex. People dislike this beacause mainstream music is easier to digest, from which I believe most of them lack IQ (yeah, sorry). You know the drill: eat, spleep, rave, repeat.........

@kennethbartholomew7449

sticking to one genre seems to be boring

@ashwinchakilum8468

Well, this genre certainly has higher quality, more creative music than big room/commercial EDM that most electronic dance musicians have moved on towards.

Besides, Trance is kinda the thing you'd expect Alex M.O.R.P.H. to do, and do well.  I'd be psyched if he tried to take on other styles like Liquid DnB/Dubstep.  I can imagine him executing that very well, just as long as he doesn't confirm to the god awful commericial/big room EDM that's being produced by the once great Trance artists nowadays.

@matheusab

Ashwin Chakilum I wouldn't say it's more creative, but the quality is, indeed, higher.

@ThatGuy-ep7xq

Ashwin Chakilum I don't think this is uplifting trance.
