Some Speed Racer trivia for you guys:

At the beginning in the credits version, the guy says "Mahha Go Go Go!" That's the original Japanese title of the series. In the chorus, the female voice also says "Mach 5 Go! Go!" Which is the English translation of the original Japanese title. "Mahha" is "mach" and "go" is the Japanese number 5. The title is pretty much a pun of itself. You can say it either "mahha gogogo" (Mach GoGoGo) or "mahha go, go go" (Mach 5, go go!) since the name of the car Mach 5 in Japanese is "mahha go."

Not only that, but this movie included so much stuff from the original series that it pretty much qualifies as the best live action anime film of all time.

How many people just now realized that Speed Racer was probably their first anime without even knowing it? Speed Racer is like the granddaddy of Initial D, for anyone who knows what that is lol. Speed Racer was birthed in the 60s. Initial D came in the 90s. Speed Racer was also a manga first with two volumes, if anyone is willing to look for (and spend a shit ton of money) on that kind of stuff. You can get the entire original anime series in english on amazon for about 20 bucks (or about 70 to 120 if you're into collectors stuff.)

@@iman5147 it was dragged down by a few things not least of which being spritle and Chim Chim, like every time they showed up the movie just kind of ground to a halt to deal with their antics and I feel like we could have done without having the spotlight on them. as well as racer x is decision at the end of the movie to keep his secrets while I can understand some people wanting to reveal himself I think he made the right choice. Other than that it was corny schmaltzy cutesy over-the-top ridiculous insane anime fun. So I would call it good just not great amazing spectacular perfect. Just good.

Why are some people hating this movie? You guys have to understand that this came from a anime show. It might look corny, but look at the movie Dragonball Evolution. That one was the worst, not only was it a bad story, it didn't give the story that compares to the series it self. It clearly made most fans hate it. I will admit when I heard that they were making speed racer into a movie and saw the trailer for it I was one of the nay sayers. what put me off was the graphics they were too cheesy for me. I wasn't the only one both my dad and uncle refused to watch it and they grew up watching him. My mom however felt the complete opposite of us caused she loved the series. So she brought the movie. I watched it and fell in love. So much that I took it home and even got my dad and uncle hooked on it. The actors were great, so was the plot which is a lot more than I can say for some movies now a days

I saw this movie last night for the first time and I loved it. I just how colorful and it looks and they made the visuals look and the cool and unique cinematic techniques they used in the movie like the transition sweep with the characters. I plan on doing a review on this for my Deviantart account

i got the blu-ray yes and the amazon prime version too it took a bit but got it finally, and watched it so many times over, this movie would make Barry Allen proud pure speed and reality ripping finish this movie is pure Platinum.

I love this with all my heart. And as an adult there were scenes that at first when I was a kid and first saw this movie in 2008 and I myself was about 9-10 didn't really emotionally understand but now as an adult I get and bring me to tears that I had to choke back. I seriously despise the old critics of the 2000's for giving this movie a bad name for years.

I love this movie! Definitely one of my favorite movies ever. I saw it in theaters when I was 8 years old and I still love it at the age of 17. Speed Racer is a film that was ahead of it's time.
