Missing
Alice Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Little red rose come and take me home
Little boy blue been left alone
Lost in a world, don't know which road
Lost in a world, don't know which road
Traveling far from the ones I know
I miss myself, never miss no hoe
I'm lost in a world, don't know which road
Lost in a world, don't know which road
Suicide doors on a coupe that's yellow
Tint like syrup, call that Eggo
Thousand Sighs plays, need a medal
Need no dime piece, got my metal
Strapped like Momo, K been ready
Heavy promo, keep it steady
Sing like Abel, rap like Lucki
I'm not your friend and I'm not your buddy
But I got I tunes that'll make you cry and
I got a voice that'll touch the sky and
I got bars no hammer can't touch this
Thick white girl under covers been blushing
'Cause I got a big white grin, I glisten
And me and Lace treat rooms like kitchens
Cooking up heat, sum hot like pistons
Know we go hard, same threat as Pippen
Little red rose come and take me home
Little boy blue been left alone
Lost in a world, don't know which road
Lost in a world, don't know which road
Traveling far from the ones I know
I miss myself, never miss no hoe

I'm lost in a world, don't know which road
Lost in a world, don't know which road

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Alice Feat. AKLO's song "Missing" describe a feeling of being lost and disconnected from the world. The first line "Little red rose come and take me home" can be interpreted as a desire to be comforted and find a sense of belonging. The reference to "Little boy blue been left alone" suggests a feeling of abandonment or isolation. The repetition of "Lost in a world, don't know which road" reinforces the feeling of being directionless and unsure of what path to take.

The second half of the song shifts to focus on material possessions and the artists' self-confidence. The references to the yellow coupe with suicide doors and tint like syrup suggest a flashy and luxurious lifestyle. The line "Thick white girl under covers been blushing" describes a sexual encounter and further emphasizes the artists' confidence and swagger.

Overall, the song seems to be expressing a mix of vulnerability and bravado, with the artists grappling with feelings of loneliness while also asserting their identity and prowess. My experience lead my character to believe they caused her to go missing, then as soon as they tried to save her, they got caught and was left for dead. Alice survived, my character did not. The last thing my character did was send a voicemail, and recording that seriously made me cry with how much I was getting into it 😭

I think it would be nice if there was a version of this where there's soft, unobtrusive ding or noise every time it's time for a clue card to be turned over because otherwise those can be easily missed

Spenser Starke

We actually playtested this pretty early on, because I felt similarly! Unfortunately it made the experience considerably less immersive because everyone was aware "something was about to happen" as opposed to things just occurring organically. So we scrapped it in favor of full immersion and just gave the facilitator the job of reminding people privately as necessary!

holyyakker

@Spenser Starke I just want to say, the amount of though, detail and passion that went into this game (even details like this above) make me respect this game so much. I'm curious your thoughts on the best ways to facilitate it online. I've used Roll 20 and Discord and tried to have every "start" their own video timer at the same time. But this next time I'm thinking of having me as the facilitator stream the timer so that we are more in sync and if someone has a crash they won't have to "guess" where we are.

Spenser Starke

@holyyakker thank you so much, that truly means the world to me! I tend to use the Roll20 edition when I run it remotely, but the discord bot is easy if you don’t want to have to do as much facilitating! You can totally stream the music to everyone— I’ve started doing that as well, and it works great!

I set this up last weekend for a socially distanced game with still being in lockdown. It was beautiful. I don't think we've ever been so invested a game so intensely. There were tears running down my face at the end. What an experience...thank you.

englishmiller259

I’m planning to do this with friends soon, how did you run it?
