9) Alice, Alice burst onto the Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts hardcore and screamo scene early in 2006. Two years and two new members later, the 5 piece band is reaching the peak of their creativity and punishing crowds with their brutal, yet melodic live act. Yeugene Barokha provides the lead vocals and tickles the ivories of the keyboard, Jeff Brown and Roger duel on the axes, Dan Hetu lays down the powerfully tight bass lines, and Bobby Malice bangs out the beats with utter abandon. Combining all these elements results in something much greater than just the sum of its parts. Alice believes they owe every bit of success to their fans, and pours every ounce of energy into every second of their music to pay them back. myspace.com/alicerock1

semafori spenti
come un'alba che non sa
che cosa è il sole
io mi muovo
io cammino
cosa cerco mi avvicino.
mi confondo, non capisco.
Così la notte mi prende per mano
mi fa compagnia la notte
con un sorriso, un'idea
una bianca follia
con anima
è una necessità.
E nel buio seguirò
ombre e giuste vibrazioni
notte, la tua mano
nel silenzio
è una musica che va
è una musica che
non finirà, non finirà, non finirà
mai, mai, mai.
Strade bagnate
semafori spenti
come un'alba che non sa
che cosa è il sole
io mi muovo
io cammino
cosa cerco mi avvicino.
Una mano, oh è la mano
mi confondo, non capisco.
Così la notte mi prende per mano
mi fa compagnia la notte
con un sorriso, un'idea
una bianca follia
con anima
è una necessità.
E nel buio seguirò
ombre e giuste vibrazioni
notte, la mia mano
nel silenzio
è una musica che va
è una musica che
non finirà!
The song "La mano" by Alice is about walking through the dark streets at night, feeling confused and uncertain about one's direction and purpose. As the singer walks, they are joined by the night, which becomes like a companion with a smile, an idea, and a white, soulful madness that is a necessity. The night leads the singer through the darkness, showing them shadows and vibrations that are both right and just. The singer follows them, guided by the hand of the night, which is like music that will never end.
The lyrics of "La mano" are evocative and poetic, conveying the sense of wandering through the darkness and being led by something beyond oneself. The use of imagery, such as the wet streets and the broken traffic lights, creates a vivid sensory experience that draws the listener into the world of the song. The repeated refrain of "Una mano, oh è la mano / mi confondo, non capisco" (A hand, oh it's the hand / I'm confused, I don't understand) emphasizes the singer's disorientation and dependency on the guiding hand of the night.
Overall, the song suggests a sense of searching and longing, but also a willingness to be led by something beyond one's own rationality. It's a beautiful ode to the mystery and wonder of the night, and the possibility of finding connection and meaning in unexpected places.
