In 1977 she was signed with Polydor Records. Her 1978 hit single "I Love the Nightlife (Disco Round)" reached number five on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and was also charting on Billboard's "Hits of the World" charts. The song was also #5 on the Record World and Cash Box charts consecutively. Alicia's song was a "crossover", meaning it charted on more than one genre chart simultaneously, such as the dance tracks chart, pop charts, etc. The song was even played on country music stations.
In 1978 Alicia was a Grammy nominee and was the opening act for the awards show, performing "I Love the Nightlife". Alicia's self titled LP "Alicia Bridges" was also rising on the Billboard, Cash Box and Record World charts and the LP remained on the charts for up to 35 weeks. Both the LP and the single release were international successes for Alicia and "I Love The Nightlife" landed at the top of the charts in France and Germany with notable chart numbers in the UK, where it peaked at Number 32 on the UK singles chart, Spain and other European countries. Alicia's music was popular in Japan as well. Alicia received a RIAA Certified Gold Record for the sale of over one million copies of her hit single in the USA, as well as a gold record from Canada.
Even by 1977, Alicia was already well-versed as a rock, blues and ballad singer. "I Love The Nightlife" has a definite back beat and organ similar to early 70s R&B. Alicia's intention was to record the track as an R&B song. But it was the shrewd ear of publishing mogul Bill Lowery who first heard the song as a disco dance tune. Soon thereafter, Jim Burgess produced the 12" single remix. Ultimately it became a worldwide hit. The song has been featured in several movies including "Love At First Bite", "The Last Days of Disco" and "The Adventures of Priscilla, the Queen of the Desert".
Alicia's second single, "Body Heat", was a rock song with strong electric guitar rhythms, reflecting her earlier experience singing in rock and other genres. Although "I Love The Nightlife" was the most notable hit from the "Alicia Bridges" LP, "Broken Woman", a blues/rock song, also found favor among many fans.
In November 2006, Alicia Bridges released a remixed and remastered compilation of her songs entitled, "This Girl Don't Care". The CD jacket has three pink triangles as part of the design graphics as well as a pink triangle on the vest Alicia is wearing. Being "out" to the public for many years, Alicia has been a long-time supporter of the Gay and Lesbian communities. She has said that the re-mixed and remastered CD is especially for her gay family and friends, though it reaches out with a message for others as well. A biography, sound clips and more are available on her official website at http://www.aliciabridges.com.

Please don't talk about love tonight.
Please don't talk about sweet love.
Please don't talk about being true
And all the trouble we've been through.
Ah, please don't talk about all of the plans
We had for fixin' this broken romance.
I want to go where the people dance.
I want some action I want to live!
Action, I got so much to give.
I want to give it.
I want to get some too.
Oh, I
Oh, I
I love the nightlife
I got to boogie on the disco 'round, oh yea.
Oh, I love the night life
I got to boogie on the disco 'round, oh yea.
Please don't talk about love tonight.
Your sweet talking won't make it right.
Love and lies just bring me down
When you've got women all over town.
You can love them all and when you're through
Maybe that'll make, huh, a man out of you.
I got to go where the people dance.
I want some action I want to live!
Action, I got so much to give.
I want to give it, I want to get some too.
Oh, I
Oh, I
I love the nightlife
I got to boogie on the disco 'round, oh yea.
Oh, I love the night life
I got to boogie on the disco 'round, oh yea.
Oh, I love the night life
I got to boogie on the disco 'round, oh yea.
Oh, I love the night life
I got to boogie on the disco 'round, oh yea.
I love the night life
I got to boogie on the disco 'round, oh yea.

A classic song that morphed into the eclectic eighties and even going so far as to make a return in the 90's (Priscilla; Queen of The Desert).
@TyroneEpps
This song is cool 😊.!

I love this remix cause of the break and it's almost 10 minutes.
@jamesmunson4667
I'll tell you something, this version is so superb, if Alicia Bridges would have done this version originally instead of the 3 minute long one, it would have brought the house down..... the audience would have got up and boogied forever!!😂😅😊😊😊❤❤❤❤......the technology wasn't there then....😢😢
@user-xt8sm9xc1e
@jamesmunson4667 The studios sometimes pressed two recordings. Some artists chose the 3 minute versions because it was most apt to get played on a radio. The 2nd pressing usually was a club mix for nightclubs, which was usually an extended version. By the 80's five minute songs became acceptable 👌.
Mind you, there are some exceptions like George Thorogood's "One Bourbon, One Beer, One Scotch" which was 7 minutes in length. So there were exceptions but at one time in radio music history the songs had to be 3 min or under or they wouldn't play them (they didn't think listeners had the durancy to sit through something three minutes, or they'd switch radio stations).
@sams220guy3
